CLINICAL FEATURES
SYMPTOMS: Frequent change of glasses in young age due to change in Myopia and astigmatism.
Signs:
munson's sign which is bulging of lower lid in down gaze
oil droplet sign on distant direct ophthalmoscopy
scissor reflex on retinoscopy
corneal thinning and Vogt's striae which are stress lines in deep stroma and abolish on pressure on eye ball through lids,on slit lamp examination
systemic associations
down syndrome
marphan syndrome
ehler danlos sydrome
osteogenesis imperfecta
ocular associations
blue sclera
vkc
Retinitis pigmentosa
aniridia
leber congenital amaurosis
eye rubbing from any cause
Investigations
keratometry
corneal topography
The treatment options are
avoidance of rubbing
spectacle
rigid contact lenses
corneal cross linkage if keratoconus is progressive
intracorneal ring segment implantation
keratoplasty in refractory cases.
