Presentation

symptoms 

1. red eye

2. watering

3. history of contact with person with conjunctivitis

signs

1. lid edema

2. conjunctival congestion and chemosis

3. follicular conjunctivitis

4. preauricular lymphadenopathy

5. keratitis

treatment

1. spontaneous resolution in 2 - 3 weeks

2. Reduction of transmission risk by meticulous hand hygiene, avoiding eye rubbing and towel sharing

3. topical steroids 0.5 % 4 times daily

4. cold compresses

5. topical antihistamines and vasoconstrictors
