Extremely elated to announce that my SWAYAM-NPTEL course on "Introduction to Medical Humanities" is now open for enrollment. It is meant to be a UG/PG core, but can be taken up by anyone who is interested in stories of medicine. There are no prerequisites for joining this course and can be taken up by anyone across the world who is interested to know about medical humanities discourse in India.

Dr. Priyanka Tripathi is an Associate Professor of English and former Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna, India. She is also the Associate Editor of the Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics (Taylor & Francis). Her academic contributions have been recognized through several prestigious fellowships, including the Giner de los Ríos Visiting Professorship, University of Alcalá, Spain (2026-27), Charles Wallace India Trust Visiting Fellowship (2024-25) at the School of History, University of Leeds; the IPD Visiting Research Fellowship (2022-23) at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (IASH), University of Edinburgh; AHRC-funded Diaspora Screen Media Network (DSMN) fellowship (2022), Birmingham City University; Journal of International Women's Studies Fellowship (2021–22), Bridgewater State University, USA and IUC Associate Fellowship at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla.
She has also received numerous competitive grants from organizations including the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR); the JPN Centre of Excellence (IIT Indore); Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) Ministry of Education; Department of Science and Technology (Govt. of India), TEQIP Collaborative Research Scheme (AICTE); Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), University of North Carolina Chapel Hill; Shastri Conference & Lecture Series Grant (SCLSG), Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute; Postcolonial Association, UK and Gender Resource Centre (Govt. of Bihar). In recognition of her research contributions, she has also received the Careers360 Commendable Faculty Research Award (2023) in the field of Arts and Humanities.
She is the author of The Gendered War: Evaluating Feminist Ethnographic Narratives of the 1971 War of Bangladesh (Bloomsbury, 2022), a study that examines war, gender, memory, and testimony through feminist ethnographic perspectives. Her forthcoming monograph with the National Book Trust of India, Mann Ki Baat: Bharatiya Art, Culture and Heritage, explores the intersections of public discourse, cultural heritage, and nation-building in contemporary India.
Her research is interdisciplinary, and she has published more than 100 Scopus-indexed research articles in journals from Taylor & Francis, Sage, Springer, Wiley, among others. She has also presented her work on leading academic platforms that include her visits to different parts of the world, including Harvard University, University of Cambridge, University of York, Dublin City University, King’s College London, Ewha University, New York University, University of Helsinki, MLA Convention (Los Angeles), Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vienna, etc. As a research mentor, she has successfully guided 14 scholars to the completion of their PhD degrees and secured prestigious international fellowships, grants, and awards for students. Her recent feat has been to be a TEDx speaker and launch a SWAYAM-NPTEL course on “Introduction to Medical Humanities,” highlighting the emerging field of health humanities accessible to learners across disciplines.
