The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Award recognizes the outstanding achievements by George Brown College employees who have demonstrated exceptional efforts in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
This award recognizes the contribution made by an individual or team demonstrating excellence in their work through actions of integrity and dedication, and an ongoing commitment towards the success of George Brown College and its communities. The nominee(s) are full or part-time employees from any employee group with a minimum of two years service (or six semesters of teaching) who have not received the same award within the past two years.
• Engages in the systematic examination of issues about student learning and instructional conditions which promote learning, building on previous scholarship.
• Demonstrates how research findings have impacted teaching practice.
• Produces scholarly work which contributes new questions and knowledge about teaching and learning.
• Serves a formal or informal leadership role which can include mentoring others, leading workshops or learning communities, or advancing SoTL through journal or conference participation to promote and support the advancement of SoTL at GBC and beyond.
