About the Author
Dr. Mukesh Ranjan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at Pachhunga University College (PUC), Mizoram University, Aizawl, Mizoram, India. With over six years of teaching experience to teach in PUC to both undergraduate and postgraduate statistics students, he has previously taught at the Central University of South Bihar and Patna Women’s College. Dr. Ranjan earned his PhD in Population Studies from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai. He also holds a BSc in Statistics from Hindu College, Delhi University, an MSc in Statistics from Patna University, and an MPhil and Master of Population Studies from IIPS.
A distinguished scholar, he was awarded gold medals for topping both his MSc and MPhil programs. He has published nearly 30 research papers in national and international journals and one authored book. He contributed as an author to two policy documents of the District Level Household Survey (DLHS-4). In 2018, he received the Prof. K.B. Pathak award for his best research paper. He is a life member of the Indian Association for Social Sciences and Health.
Dr. Ranjan was awarded the IASc-INSA-NASI Focus Area Science Technology Summer Fellowship (FAST-SF) 2025 at IIT Mumbai. His expertise spans Demography, Biostatistics, Survival Analysis, Public Health, and large-scale survey data analysis using software like STATA, SPSS, R, and MINITAB.
