๐ CRAAP vs. RADAR: How Do We Know If a Source Is Good?ย
Welcome to our Evaluation Station!
When we find information online, we want to know: Is it trustworthy? Is it useful?
We can use two awesome tools to help us figure that out: CRAAP and RADAR.ย
Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, Purpose = CRAAP
๐ CRAAP was created for college research, but we can use it too!ย
Relevance, Authority, Date, Appearance, Reason for Writing
๐ RADAR was created to help students (even younger ones!) quickly check internet sources.ย
โ Similarities:
Both help us decide if a website or article is trustworthy
Both check for who made it, when it was made, and why it was written
Both help us become smart online researchers
Focused on college-level sources and academic research
A little longer and more detailed
Created by California State University
Designed to be easy for students and beginners to use
Quick and simple to remember, like scanning with radar!
Created by Jane Mandalios in 2013
๐ฅ๏ธ Use RADAR when you're checking websites or videos for class projects
๐ Use CRAAP when you're reading articles or doing a deeper research report
๐ง You can even use BOTH together!
