Grounded in ADDIE and andragogical principles, this microlearning experience was designed to help adult learners understand the health impact of fructose in a relatable way. ARCS motivation strategies drove engagement throughout: a playful fructose character captures Attention, personal health relevance is made clear, scaffolded visuals and knowledge checks build Confidence, and instant feedback plus a course completion certificate reinforce learner Satisfaction.

Structured using Gagné’s key instructional events, the module opens with a curiosity-provoking scenario, presents clear objectives, activates prior knowledge through familiar foods, and includes scenario-based interactions and interactive assessments to support real-world transfer. Developed in Articulate Rise 360 with custom Canva graphics and Colossyan animations, this design balances cognitive load and ensures a fun, meaningful learning experience that adults can immediately apply in daily life.

Instructional Design Spotlight – Comparing Two Quantities with a Bar Graph (Powtoon)

This animated Powtoon micro-lesson uses visual storytelling and microlearning strategies to help elementary and middle school students compare quantities with a bar graph. Fun cartoon characters, smooth animations, and kid-friendly icons keep learners engaged, while narration and simple modeling follow Mayer’s Multimedia Learning Principles to strengthen understanding. A quick check-for-understanding at the end builds confidence as students practice identifying “more” and “fewer.” Designed to align with NGSS data-analysis skills, this short lesson makes math meaningful, visual, and fun.

Instructional Design Spotlight – The Psychology of Smoking (Power Point)

This 60-minute WBT was designed using the ADDIE framework, with a structured storyboard guiding visual, narrative, and interactive elements. Learning outcomes were aligned to Bloom’s Taxonomy (Apply–Evaluate levels), ensuring learners not only recall health risks but also evaluate social triggers and make informed decisions. ARCS motivation strategies drove engagement—attention-grabbing visuals and testimonials, relatable scenarios for relevance, scaffolded reflections for confidence, and credible evidence-based examples for satisfaction. Course sequencing reflected key steps from Gagné’s Instructional Events, including activation of prior knowledge, guided learning with storytelling, and interactive assessments with immediate feedback. Delivered via narrated PowerPoint WBT, the instructional approach empowers recent graduates to critically analyze smoking influences and build refusal skills in real-world contexts.
