I believe that all students can, and want to learn.
"“leadership is communicating others' worth and potential so clearly that they are inspired to see it in themselves.”
- Steven Covey
Servant leadership requires listening, consensus building, ethical decision making, and the building and maintenance of a sense of community. While it is often seen as “soft”, it requires the creation of vision, the setting of challenging goals, the sharing of data and performance and skill with conflict resolution.
"Good leaders must first become good servants"
- Robert Greenleaf
My first “north star” is the belief that all children should receive (equitably) a high quality education from caring teachers and administrators. The individuals who work in schools have a long lasting effect on students, so ALL schools (especially high-poverty schools) need to hire and retain the best loving and caring talented staff.
My second “north star” is the belief that children need to graduate and be equipped with the skills that will prepare them for their individual college and careers. In this ever-changing and diverse world students need to start at an early age being exposed to skills that are useful in the workplace.
