Biography

About me

I am Dr Kaushik Halder, currently working as an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing and Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. I received B. Tech degree in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from the Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia, West Bengal, India, in 2008. I received M.E. degree in Power Engineering and PhD degree in Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, in 2010 and 2018, respectively. My PhD thesis was titled with Design of an Optimal Controller for Discrete Switched System. I got the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India scholarship for my master's study and University Grants Commission (UGC)-Basic Scientific Research (BSR), Govt. of India fellowship for my doctoral study. I served as an Assistant Professor in the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering department with the National Institute of Science and Technology, Brahmapur, Odisha, India, during 2010–2013. After my PhD, I worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Sciences, University of Surrey, UK, during 2019-2021. Here, my postdoctoral research was on Distributed Communication and Control for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles and the project was jointly sponsored by EPSRC and Jaguar and Land Rover, UK. Following that, I joined as Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Informatics, The University of Edinburgh, UK. During this tenure, I worked on Privacy Systems Engineering using control theory and feedback loops in Anonymous Communication Networks (ACNs) under EPSRC, UK sponsored project. My principal research interests include control theory, networked control systems, cooperative control systems, cyber-physical systems, intelligent systems, and vehicle platooning. I have co-authored in more than 25 peer-reviewed scientfic journals and conferences.

 Research Interest

My research is focused towards control systems design to handle dynamical systems with an emphasis on the control of networked and large-scale systems such as cooperative driving of connected autonomous vehicles, time delay systems, energy systems and computational intelligence and optimization. In particular, my research work emphasizes on establishing the groundwork for the development of multi-disciplinary design techniques, which include:
