Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development: Issues, Policies and Practices (SCSH 1201) is a university-required course for 1st-year students at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This course intends to increase students’ knowledge of the concept of sustainability, and develop the right attitudes, values, and skills in addressing sustainable development issues and related challenges encountered in a globalized world. More specifically, this course aims to demonstrate the importance of sustainable development principles and practices and will also include the Islamic perspective on Sustainable Development. Through multiple case studies, students are expected to understand the challenges and barriers to integrating sustainable development at local, national, and international levels.
