These were my SFS scores during the pandemic. I taught four sections of Statistical Methods (ECON 1140), two sections of Principles of Macroeconomics (ECON 1610) and one section of Sustainable Development (UNGS 1201). A total of 127 responses were recorded.Β
When the MCO was first announced in 2020, I conducted my very own unofficial survey to get feedback from my students on their remote learning experience. The main objective of the survey was to improve on my teaching and the way I conduct my virtual classes for this upcoming semester (since classes will still be conducted remotely). The students' identities remained anonymous and they were not pressured to answer the survey in any way.
64 students responded to the survey. These are the highlights from the survey:Β
Alhamdulillah, it's great to see my students benefitting from my video lectures and other features of our virtual class. I will try to maintain these positive elements while improving on their quality and delivery π
The video lectures are so so helpful! I get to pause and google the terms that I donβt understand, and also rewind the videos to get a clearer understanding of the topic!!! Love it so much.
It's quite convenient to reach to you for any inquiries as you always reply as soon as possible :)
Students are given ample time to answer the online quizzes
Madam can maintain the way it is because I find everything helpful. Plus it is super easy to keep track of the things going on from the systematic weekly planner and keep track of all the video lectures by subscribing to your channel :)
Video on YouTube. It very helpful in term of data saving by lower the quality of the video and also can pause or playback. Tq dr.
I think you have thought about it very well, madam. Our classes are organized and the weekly planners are awesome. I've never seen any other lecturers do weekly planners.
While it's great to hear compliments, we need to hear the bad reviews too. How else can we improve, right? π
Mostly when it comes to anything that related with group. some of the members are a little bit irresponsible with the project as we cannot meet face to face. Sometimes they are unable to be reached.
Just add WhatsApp/ telegram group, will be more helpful. Last semester number of students asked you same questions directly by Email so if we had a WhatsApp group and just one ask you a question then all of us know about it. Other than that You are Perfect in online mode ππΌ
I would suggest to increase more individual tasks rather than group tests because some members do not contribute at all but other members feel guilty to report it. Thank you for your hard work, Dr.
Occasional synchronous meetings just to check on progress and make sure that everyone is on the same page
Quizzes. Because some students use cheggs and other sources, google it to find the answers. It ease students to cheat.
I appreciate all the comments given by my former students. While many have suggested that I leave my delivery and assessment as it is, the top three issues raised by them were:Β
To have occasional Zoom or Google Meet session to check on everyone's progress
To have no Group Project or group-based assignments
To have a WhatsApp or Telegram groupΒ
After giving it much thought and considering my own capacity, time and resources, I have decided to accept two out of the three suggestions above. For this new semester, all assignments will be individual-based and we will have occasional Google Meet sessions. I will maintain a "No WhatsApp/Telegram" policy for all my classes. However, students are free to set one up on their own and share all my announcements and reminders among themselves.
