Where are my dreams stored?
Locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, a copy is also kept in your private CloudKit container that only your Apple ID can read. Nothing ever goes to a developer-controlled server.
How do I export my dreams?
Open Settings inside the app and tap Export. You can export to PDF (printable book), Markdown (plain text), or JSON (full backup with attachments). Your file is saved via the iOS share sheet, so you can drop it into Files, email, AirDrop, or anywhere else.
How do I import dreams from another app or a backup?
Settings > Import. The app accepts a JSON file exported from Dream Journal itself, or a plain text/Markdown file with one dream per heading. The importer never overwrites existing entries; it only adds new ones.
Voice recording does not work. Why?
Check iOS Settings > Dream Journal and make sure Microphone and Speech Recognition are both turned on. If they were denied earlier, you must enable them in Settings; the app cannot re-prompt you. Also note that Speech Recognition may require an internet connection on older devices.
iCloud sync seems stuck.
Make sure you are signed in to iCloud (Settings > [your name] > iCloud) and Dream Journal is toggled on under iCloud Drive / Apps using iCloud. Sync usually starts within a minute over Wi-Fi. Background sync can be delayed when Low Power Mode is on.
How do I delete a single dream / all my data?
Swipe a dream left in the Journal list to delete it. To wipe everything (including iCloud), open Settings > Reset App > Erase all data and confirm. To remove the iCloud copy as well, also disable iCloud sync in Settings.
Why is my language not in the app?
Dream Journal ships in 37 languages on day one. The app follows your iOS system language by default; you can override it in Settings > Language. If your language is missing or a translation looks off, write to us and we will fix it in the next update.
Will there be a paid version?
v1.0 is fully free, with no in-app purchases and no ads. In the future, optional add-ons such as AI-assisted dream interpretation may be offered as a one-time purchase or subscription, but everything that is free today will remain free.
