Artist statement

The contemporary landscape of art and its intersection with propaganda have undergone significant transformations, often blurring the lines between artistic expression and commercialization. Over my artistic journey, I have witnessed this evolution firsthand, grappling with the shifting perceptions of truth and authenticity within the art world. At the core of my artistic practice lies a deep-seated passion for cultural handcraft and textile remakes. My mission is to transcend the traditional boundaries of art, engaging with diverse audiences and reshaping their perceptions of contemporary artistic endeavors. I take great pleasure in exploring innovative techniques and materials, sourcing second-hand and discarded items to infuse my creations with a sense of uniqueness and sustainability.

Fragmentation serves as a central motif in my work, allowing me to explore a myriad of themes and concepts without confining myself to any single style or medium. Embracing flexibility and embracing challenges, I continually push the boundaries of my artistic expression, seeking inspiration from various sources and venturing into uncharted territories. One of my greatest sources of inspiration lies in the fusion of ancient craft traditions with modern artistic sensibilities. Each of my artworks embodies a blend of strength, critique, and emotion, serving as a testament to my distinctive artistic voice. However, amidst the ever-growing commercialization of art, I am deeply concerned about the dilution of its intrinsic value. The relentless pursuit of "originality" often leads to imitation and manipulation by those in positions of power and influence. In an era dominated by globalization, art risks being reduced to a mere commodity, stripped of its cultural and social significance.

Drawing from my Chinese heritage, I am acutely aware of the rich tapestry of traditional techniques that underpin Chinese art. Despite the challenges posed by industrialization, I am committed to preserving and reinterpreting these age-old practices, incorporating them into my artistic repertoire while staying true to their cultural origins. For me, art is more than just a means of self-expression—it is a powerful tool for social commentary and cultural preservation. It should be accessible to all, free from the constraints of ownership and commercial exploitation. Through my art, I strive to challenge societal norms and foster a deeper appreciation for the intrinsic value of artistic creation in today's world.
