Born in the foothills northwest of Calgary and proudly based out of Stony Plain, Alberta, Canadian country recording artist Steve Newsome brings an authentic, cowboy-grit energy to the modern country music scene. Channelling a powerful blend of musical influences—often described as a tall slice of Trace Adkins mixed with a scoop of Eddie Montgomery—Newsome delivers traditional country heart wrapped in a high-energy, modern production.

Steve’s journey to the forefront of independent country music has been uniquely guided and fueled by DRC Music. What began as a chance encounter when Steve performed an intimate, surprise slot opening for CCMA Hall of Fame inductee Jason McCoy at DRC's signature venue, "The Tavern," quickly evolved into a powerful, multi-decade industry partnership. Recognized as the first official artist signed to their roster, Steve has spent over ten years walking alongside DRC Music as a true flagship client.

Today, DRC Music serves a comprehensive, full-circle role in Steve's career, operating seamlessly as his exclusive management team, booking agent, and co-producer.

This joint venture began heavily in the studio when DRC stepped behind the board to co-produce Steve’s debut radio single, "Tried, Tested and True," and his subsequent 2016 debut EP, Enjoy The Ride. Since then, DRC Music has managed every chapter of his development, guiding the rollout of subsequent streaming hits like "One Good Radio," "Simple Things," and his highly acclaimed EP, Try Somethin' Different.

As his booking agent and live event producer, DRC Music has consistently placed Steve on major festival and theater stages. Through their strategic industry network, they have secured him high-profile opening slots for Canadian country royalty including Brett Kissel, Terri Clark, and Emerson Drive. Simultaneously, DRC has integrated Steve as a recurring fan-favorite staple at their premier community live event productions, including Stony Plain’s Summer Sessions and MidSummer Thursdays.

With DRC Music steering the ship, Steve’s distinct songwriting and engaging live presence have captured both national and international acclaim. His career milestones boast multiple Country Music Alberta Award nominations (including Rising Star and Horizon Male Artist) alongside major international recognition from the International Singer-Songwriters Association (ISSA) in Atlanta, where he won Songwriter of the Year (2019), Entertainer of the Year (2020), and International Video of the Year for "Cold Beer Communion" (2021).
