Tannis & Jazz Matthews
About Us
From day one, our mission at DRC Music has been simple: bring incredible live music close to home, keep it accessible, and give independent artists a powerful platform to shine.
Our story didn't start in a boardroom; it began with a fan's pure passion. Concertzz 150 was born out of Tannis Matthews’ deep love for the music of Canadian country icon Johnny Reid. What started as a dream to host her favorite singer transformed into a spectacular, one-off concert right in Spruce Grove, Alberta. That single, unforgettable night sparked a lifelong fire for live entertainment, and by 2012, DRC Music was officially born.
As our roots in the Alberta music scene grew, we became widely known and loved as Dog Rump Creek Music—a true family-run effort spearheaded by Jazz and Tannis Matthews. We built our reputation on the belief that music lovers shouldn't have to drive miles, wait in endless lines, or pay outrageous ticket fees to see world-class country, folk, and roots artists. From legendary, intimate house concerts at "The Tavern" to spearheading major community staples like Stony Plain’s Summer Sessions and MidSummer Thursdays, we proved that the best seats in the house are right in our own backyard.
Today, we continue that journey under our unified banner, DRC Music.
While our chapters have evolved, our heart remains exactly the same. We have doubled down on supporting the independent music community by booking and working with a growing family of phenomenal emerging talent and established favorites. We proudly walk alongside our artists as true teammates, dedicating our efforts to helping artists reach new heights without ever limiting their opportunities.
This deep-rooted commitment to community and artistic growth earned DRC Music the Town of Stony Plain's Inaugural Award of Creative Excellence in 2019. This milestone highlighted our evolving footprint as trusted promoters and partners in the Alberta music scene. Looking toward the future, our family-led venture continues to expand its reach as both Taelore Matthews-Scwartz and Breydon "Buck" Matthews have taken on greater roles within our daily operations. Their leadership ensures that DRC Music remains a vibrant, multi-generational force in live production, artist management, and community-driven music initiatives.
In an industry that can often feel corporate and disconnected, we pride ourselves on doing business differently. Our management style is built on complete transparency, mutual respect, and an unwavering belief in artistic freedom. We don't just book dates; we build sustainable, long-term friendships, ensuring our artists feel like they have become a part of the DRC Family
This commitment to growth is taking us to exciting new horizons. Effective September 15, 2026, we were thrilled to officially welcome our southern partners, Bay Country Entertainment based in Nayarit, Mexico, into the DRC Family. This cross-border partnership allows us to expand our footprint and continue doing what we love on an international scale, creating even more incredible opportunities for independent artists.
Whether we are producing packed outdoor festival stages, organizing intimate community concert series, or guiding the careers of our artists, we live for the magic of live music. At DRC Music, we treat our artists and our audiences like family—because nothing beats the feeling of watching a crowd connect with great music.
Thank you for being part of our story. We’ll see you at the next show!
