Chris Torres
RESEARCH FOCUS
Dr. Christopher Torres's research focuses on how birds, particularly ancient waterfowl like Vegavis iaai, survived the mass extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs. He led a groundbreaking study that uncovered the oldest known modern bird skull, digitally reconstructing it from fossil fragments found in Antarctica. His work explores long-term evolutionary patterns and what they reveal about survival during global crises, with the aim of understanding how life may respond to today’s environmental threats. Dr. Torres publishes a lot of paper periodically and he very welcomes undergrad students to help with his research.
