2016
2016 was the year Google discontinued its wonderful Picassa software. This software had allowed me to edit my albums at home and upload what I chose in the order I wanted. I got behind in making albums during this time. Most links for 2015 and earlier therefore no longer work. Someday I'll upload albums about my 2016 and earlier travels.

China - September 2011
The top conference in my field is held every 2 years and alternates continents. This year was Asia and Beijing China. Tom decided at the last mement to come with me. He had to get his passport renewed (it expired in 1993). I saw a few things I hadn't seen last year when I was in China for the first time.Boise Ballon Festival - September 2011
Boise may have dropped the River Festival, but they held onto the annual Ballon Festival component. I went to Washington DC to serve on an NSF review panel. They had a big snowstorm which shut down the city. Flights were cancelled too. I had cabin fever, so when we had no reviewing to do one day and the subways weren't running, I walked to downtown to see the city under an unusually bright blanket of snow.

Alaska - June 2005
Scott and I went to South-East Alaska for a small boat cruise. The boat had 48 passengers and 24 crew, including a super chef and 3 naturalists. We had flexibility in the schedule and could get to places large cruise ships could not. We also went out on nature walks and in sea kayaks.

When I was living in Connecticut I took a cake decorating class through Community Ed with another woman who also worked at the Navy Lab. Since then I've created some nice items. Many are documented here.Christmas Crafts
I am fortunate to live a few doors down the street from a wonderful man who is also Santa Claus. At Christmas his yard is fully decorated and he gives rides on an ATV towed "sleigh" and in an antique firetruck he purchased. He dresses up as Santa Claus and hands out candy canes. He commented that he wanted a display that would put Christ into his Christmas display, and only had this inflatable nativity set. I offered to make him a bigger nativity set if he provided the supplies. I made some other things since then. They are documented here. I have ideas for some more things... when I have time.
