The Singing Fish, Joan Miró
An extensive background in general music, choral, vocal, and instrumental pedagogies, music education technology, and musical theater— grounded by fifteen years of PK-12 public school teaching—continues to inform my work as a music teacher educator at the University of Vermont. Previous appointments organizing and facilitating field experiences, designing music technology curriculum, and teaching undergraduate and graduate level music educators across diverse settings have shaped my contributions to the field as they pertain to music teacher preparation and orientations toward diverse and inclusive curricula. Working collaboratively to build relationships with students and teacher mentors is an ongoing part of our work in teacher preparation. These experiences have been critical in locating a philosophy of music education in a changing, global society.
