This datapack depends on: DrakonCore
A powerful sentient sword, created to destroy evil.
Sneak to unsheathe or resheathe the blade.
While unsheathed, you gain immense power but must feed Nightblood with Experience, lest you be consumed by the blade.
Potentially the most powerful sword in existence, Nightblood is an unbreakable magical blade that, when unleashed, can obliterate any entity with the slightest nick. Unsheathing the blade causes Nightblood to take over its user with the overwhelming command to Destroy Evil, empowering them with powerful abilities. It is based on Nightblood and other Shardblade-style weapons from the Cosmere; note it does not work exactly like the book version, as it is combined with the ten-heartbeat activation of Shardblades.
When sheathed, Nightblood deals damage equal to an Iron Sword and has enhanced Knockback, due to the weight of the blade. Sneak for 10 seconds to unsheathe the blade, displayed by a bossbar at the top of your screen. Once the process finishes, Nightblood becomes unsheathed, awakening and turning you into an unstoppable warrior with the following effects:
Speed V
Night Vision
Haste IV
Glowing with a black aura
While unsheathed, Nightblood pours black smoke that falls down instead of up. When striking any mob (including players), Nightblood destroys them utterly. This is far more devastating than just killing the mob—when struck, they puff into black smoke and drop no loot or experience, having been erased from existence.
Nightblood also feeds on its user's Experience rapidly when in use, draining it faster the longer it is in use. Should its user run out of Experience, Nightblood will start feasting on the user's life force until it kills the user. Nightblood cannot be dropped or unequipped when unsheathed, severely penalizing the player until they re-equip the item. The only way to stop Nightblood (besides dying) is by sheathing the blade, which requires the user to sneak for another 10 seconds (during which Nightblood will remain active).
I don't think this item should ever be obtainable without admin permissions, so I will not be taking suggestions on a crafting recipe or method of obtaining this item. Having two or more unsheathed Nightbloods in the game may have adverse side effects.
When Nightblood is dropped for any reason (including its previous owner's death), it reverts to its sheathed state if not already sheathed and embeds itself into the ground with a custom model, instead of appearing as an item. While dropped, it tempts passersby into picking it up by dragging them like a magnet into the blade—however, it kills those it determines to be unworthy of wielding it. It considers all hostile mobs evil, dragging weaker hostile mobs into the blade and draining their life (since it is not unsheathed, it will not kill them instantly). Since it is not unsheathed, it will not kill its victims instantly; however, mobs and players that are killed by this draining effect will disappear into a puff of black smoke as they are erased. Players have various reactions to Nightblood based on their current Experience level:
Level 0-4: Players are drawn to Nightblood, who will attempt to kill them if they touch the blade.
Level 5-29: Players are nauseated by Nightblood, but can pick it up safely.
Level 30+: Players are not drawn to Nightblood, and can pick it up safely.
This ability can be used by the current owner of Nightblood at their own risk to deal with hostile mobs, as this usage does not drain experience.
