I’m Julie Barnes, PhD, LMFT. I hold a PhD in Clinical Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage & Family and Supervision. I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and have been involved in clinical work since 2005. I am committed to creating an environment that feels supportive and developmentally attuned. A space where new clinicians can grow their skills, strengthen their professional identity, and develop a strong sense of self.
My background includes years of teaching in graduate counseling programs and supporting emerging therapists through classes, practicum, internship, and the transition into professional practice. I bring a systemic lens, trauma‑informed awareness, and a grounded, non‑pathologizing presence to all my sessions.
In this season of my life, I am deeply engaged in both clinical supervision and academic teaching. I continue to work closely with graduate students as they move through their training, helping them integrate theory, develop their therapeutic voice, and navigate the early challenges of clinical work. Balancing supervision and academia keeps me connected to the evolving needs of emerging therapists, and it allows me to offer guidance that is both grounded in experience and responsive to where new clinicians are today.
Contact me and let me know how I can support you to become the clinician you want to be.
