The goal of today's lesson is to learn how to make observations outside and share these with others through WILDLIFE POETRY! This lesson will have three essential questions:
Essential Questions:
What are the different steps to observation?
What are poems as a form of writing?
How can you turn your observations about nature into poetry?
What are the 3 steps to great observation?
First you must chose something that you want to observe so you can focus your senses onto that one place or object! Narrowing your scope will help make your observations more detailed.
Using your eyes, ears, nose and hands, you will collect important observations! Collect this information by drawing or writing down what you observe!
Now that you've done all the waiting, watching, and listening, how will you share your experience with others??

Leaves taking a Bath
by Jade Doty
Leaves take a bath in the stream while
I wash in the sun.
My hands cool as the water brushes them and I stand up to see the beautiful painting life has shown me.
Sprays of sunlight against a canvas of brown.
I hope to see all of the world's pictures and feel all of the earth's cool water.
But for now, I will enjoy my time here, in this stream, where the leaves bathe.
Using the Padlet below, type out your poem! Feel free to write multiple and "like" the poems that make you smile!
Draw a picture to go along with your poem!
Try watching another video and writing a poem about the different location. What do you notice is different about your two poems? How do the two locations make you feel? Do you feel the same or different?
