The goal of this lesson, is to have students learn words in Spanish AND English to describe the location of an object in space! You will see our Hub Farm chickens and their eggs in various locations around the farm and learn how to describe their positions.
By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
Describe examples and images from the movie using prepositions of place.
Ask questions using prepositions of place to locate specific items.
Draw and describe a picture illustrating prepositions like:
on top of/under
between
above/below
in front of/behind
beside
The goal of the first set of cards is to learn each location term in English and Spanish using images for reference. Once the students have mastered the terms, they can play the matching game below!
Watch the two farm videos below to see the Spanish and English location terms at work! Use these videos to practice your knowledge of the vocabulary terms and work on pronunciation in Spanish!

TEACHERS: Here are some ideas for activities to do with your class after this lesson!
Describe It. Draw It. Ask students to draw a picture on a blank piece of paper, or with digital drawing tools, to illustrate the prepositions of place learned in this lesson. They may use additional words and images if they want, but they must include something that clearly illustrates one of the prepositions in, on, under, near, or behind. Tell them not to share their drawings with other students. When they have finished, ask students to describe their drawing to a partner who then draws the picture he hears described. After they compare their drawings, the students switch roles.
Demonstrate! Have students stand up next to their desks (or if virtually, they can stand next to an object in the room they are in). Call out each preposition and have them move to that position in relation to their desk! Start with just English, then switch to just Spanish, then to make it even more challenging, mix the two! (I recommend that you do not have students climb up to stand on their desks but they can lay on top for safety reasons)
