One of the things I often wondered that rather than handing them the ID and the password to connect to the home WiFi (through my router) if it was possible to send them a link/URL that they could just tap on their phones or tablets and the connection would be established then that would really be cool.

Alternatively, if the link provided could automatically select the required SSID and pre-populate with the password and all the user needs to do is tap on the JOIN (if Apple) or CONNECT (if Android) button then that would also be magic.

For iOS or macOS, you could send them a link to a .mobileconfig "provisioning profile". You can create them with the Apple Configurator 2 app and then post it to a (hopefully secure) web server of your choice. But the hassle of getting iOS or macOS to download and install an unsigned provisioning profile may be more hassle than selecting a network and entering a password.

add a guest account to your wifiuser name guest, password guest, and send them a text message that they will keep in their phone .this guest account is usually a good setting to protect your own network your phone computer and gadgets connect to your personnel WIFI.now this is your friends they are not going beyond their guest account..

Orbi app gave me the same message "Guest WiFi PN Guest Wifi Test deep link" five times today (July 7, 2023) from 12:42 pm to 1:03 pm U.S. eastern time. Never got any messages from the Orbi app before.

Getting Message in orbi app "Guest WIFI Test deep link" 4 times in past hour. Guest WIFI was on. Turned if off. Tried to look at devices connected. Failed. Turned Guest WIFI back on. I can see list of devices but I don't know what this message means.

Just received several of the same notification from my Orbi app. I have 4 Orbi RBS750 (AX4200) set up as a mesh network at my house. 1 main router with 3 acting as satellites. The notification from the app says "Guest WiFi PN - Guest WiFi Test deep link". This was seemingly unprovoked, as we don't even have the Guest WiFi turned on.

@Eyal432 Hi I bought my TP-link wifi Range extender version RE200. It doesn't work normally because every 5 minutes or so it loses the connection and turns off. It's really weird for a product I bought today and it's already starting to bug. Please i need your help.

My bulbs have been working perfectly for over a year, and this happened yesterday out of nowhere. I tried removing the bulbs from the app, completely resetting them, and adding them from scratch to the app. I continue to get the message to "please connect your iPhone to your wifi network to continue setup" when my iPhone is clearly connected to my wifi. Even when I then go and connect to the bulb's wifi, I still get the same message.

I have the exact same issue. I'm trying to add 2 new LB200 bulbs. i get the flashing lights, but when it comes time for my Android's Kasa app to detect the TP-link wifi, it fails and says "Unable to connect." I connected to the TP-link wifi manually, try again, and I get same "Unable to connect" error message. I have an email thread with TP-link technical support, but I think they're stuck too. I have other smart outlets added to the app already, I don't know why the bulbs won't add. I've tried using my Pixel phone and Samsung tablet, but no luck. Help!

Yes I'm trying to add one bulb at the time; only one bulb is on. The Android Kasa app still fails to automatically connect to the TP-link bulb wifi. I'm not on a VPN or airplane mode when I'm connected to my home wifi.

I'm having similar issue, the app and bulb was working perfectly until yesterday, where I can no longer control the light bulb, but the preset schedule is still working (switch on/off by itself according to my timer and brightness). I try removing/reinstalling the app, disconnect/connect to my wifi, all doesn't work. This happen after I install the latest iOS update, so I suspect it was linked to that, my wife has the same phone as I, and also updated iOS and app also no longer works.

Today I decided to purchase a wireless USB adaptor because my operating system, Kubuntu 18.04, is no longer detecting my wifi card. When I purchased it, I thought it would be the type of Wifi USB adaptor that you simply need to plug and it works right away, but when I unpacked it I unfortunately realized that it would be a little more complex to get it to work.

I don't have a solution, but you may be on to something regarding the interaction between windows and the AGN. first I have two laptops that drop the connection. An HP Win7 64 and a toshiba Vista 32. The HP has the 5100AGN but the Toshiba has a Linksys EC600N card. Both are within 6 feet of the router. I correct the problem by using the network and sharing center to disconnect and reconnect for a quick solution, though my problem only occurs at most once a day. An HP desktop with WIN7 64 using a linksys WUSB600N adapter has no problem with the connection, neither does a Dell desktop running XP Pro with a Linksys WUSB600N. I know I'm just muddying the water, but someone can glean something more significant than I from the information.

I have the same problem. I am using a new Linksys E2000 router and have a PRO 2915ABG wireless card. I have downloaded the most updated drivers but that did not fix the problem. The ironic thing is that I did not have this problem with my old router (linksys WRT54G). Sorry I was not able to help but I am interested if you get any good suggestions.

I too had similar problems. at first the adapter wouldn't even recognize any wireless networks at all. i disabled then re-enabled from the device mgr and that worked...for a few months anyway. then it started doing the same thing again, couldn't find any networks. I've tried uninstalling the old driver and installing the newest one (14.2) to no avail. last week i ordered a brand new wifi 5100 card. after installing the new card (it's very simple to do), it now recognizeds the networks and i can connect but it still drops the connection periodically. this leads me to believe that this is a software and not a hardware problem since i'm still experiencing some of the same issues with a brand new card. I may try to find a different brand of internal wireless card since i don't like the usb ones filling up my ports. hope this helps a little.

I tried everything mentioned out here and some other forums too, nothing worked for me. I was not inclined to use a usb adapter, with something sticking out always and not to mention the discomfort putting the laptop in a carry case. Also, the discomfort of carrying it where ever I move. So, I ordered intel 5100 512AN_HMW, which is the internal wifi adapter for my dell studio 1555 laptop, from ebay for $17 and installed it myself. Touch wood its working fine now.

Yeah, I too purchased a Medialink USB wifi adapter and it works flawlessly, but I'd much rather have my onboard 5100 agn perational. It doesn't make sense that these problems wouldn't present out of the box if it wasn't a situational issue. I noticed that the Intel adapter worked flawlessly for several hours at another location last week. But the issue can't be soley in my wireless router because every other computer, hand held device etc works perfectly and as I said, so does my USB plug-in.

After a really frustrating experience with support, I was told both "It's working as described and not a defect" and "It's a known issue with slow speeds". Apparently the wifi module is working as described and the defect is link/connect. The advice was "just use USB" ?

Only 100 times? LOL. But you're right, the slow speed of the wifi adapter basically makes it useless -- sneakernet is better. Ethernet is mostly usable, but still painfully slow compared to other local ethernet transfers (i.e., Octoprint for example).

Using prusalink, Wi-Fi response is fast doing monitoring. The problem is the file transfer speed internally in the hardware. File transfer is slow, but also based on file size. Small files are a few seconds.

You can do a prusalink file transfer while the printer is running. You do not need to wait until printer is idle. USB transfer requires printer to be idle. On one hand transfer may be slow, but on the other hand you can transfer files without stopping the printer. 99% of my transfers are done with prusalink.

Wi-Fi (/wafa/)[1][a] is a family of wireless network protocols based on the IEEE 802.11 family of standards, which are commonly used for local area networking of devices and Internet access, allowing nearby digital devices to exchange data by radio waves. These are the most widely used computer networks, used globally in home and small office networks to link devices and to provide Internet access with wireless routers and wireless access points in public places such as coffee shops, hotels, libraries, and airports to provide visitors.

The Wi-Fi Alliance used the advertising slogan "The Standard for Wireless Fidelity" for a short time after the brand name was created,[29][31][32] and the Wi-Fi Alliance was also called the "Wireless Fidelity Alliance Inc." in some publications.[33] The name is often written as WiFi, Wifi, or wifi, but these are not approved by the Wi-Fi Alliance. IEEE is a separate, but related, organization and their website has stated "WiFi is a short name for Wireless Fidelity".[34][35]

As with other IEEE 802 LANs, stations come programmed with a globally unique 48-bit MAC address (often printed on the equipment) so that each Wi-Fi station has a unique address.[d] The MAC addresses are used to specify both the destination and the source of each data packet. Wi-Fi establishes link-level connections, which can be defined using both the destination and source addresses. On the reception of a transmission, the receiver uses the destination address to determine whether the transmission is relevant to the station or should be ignored. A network interface normally does not accept packets addressed to other Wi-Fi stations.[e] 2351a5e196
