In the final season, Michelle becomes the mother of a little girl with her husband Adam, whereas Dev begins to be interested in Alex Kendrick, a new scientist working for IIB. Oz left his job of paramedic and is now the owner of a restaurant, and Toby continues his relationship with Tia. Klein gets a promotion and leaves the head of the team to somebody that Toby already knows.

In episode 8 of the third season, Flashpoint character Michaelangelo "Spike" Scarlatti crossed over in a brief scene in which he was leaving the hospital after getting medical attention and interacted with Osman "Oz" Bey who had just brought a patient to the hospital.

On October 7, 2013, CTV renewed the series for a fifth and final season consisting of 13 episodes. It premiered on Monday, May 26, 2014. In August 2014, CTV announced that they had cancelled the show. The series finale aired on August 18, 2014.[9]The series finale (episode #65) aired at 9 p.m. ET on Monday, August 18, 2014.

The series premiered on NBC in the U.S. on June 4, 2009. It was dropped after airing 7 episodes (of the 13 episode season) due to poor ratings, with the remaining episodes being made available for viewing online at NBC.com and Hulu.com.[2][25] In 2011, it was announced that Ion Television had purchased the rights to the first two seasons of the series to be aired in 2012, with an option to purchase successive seasons.[26] Then in 2014, ION Television signed on to become co-producer to the show.[27] In November 2014, ION Television acquired the rights to Season 5. In late 2018, it began airing on syndication and TV stations such as WWOR-TV in New York City, WPVI in Philadelphia, KBCW in San Francisco, KMAX-TV in Sacramento, KDOC-TV in Los Angeles, and WSBK-TV in Boston, among others.

The series premiered on GO! in Australia on March 3, 2010.[30] However, it was taken off the air twice due to low ratings.[31] The series was later purchased by SoHo (formerly W) who have broadcast the first three seasons.[32] Season 4 premiered on SoHo on August 5, 2013,[33] with season 5 returning August 4, 2014.[34]

It was announced on November 17, 2009 that The Listener had been renewed for a 13 episode second season.[2] Production for the second season began almost a year after the announcement of the renewal, in September 2010, and was scheduled to end February 2011.[3] The second season premiered February 8, 2011 on CTV and after 10 episodes CTV began broadcasting the entire show from the beginning. The remaining three episodes were eventually shown in August 2011. In the UK, all thirteen episodes ran from March 1, 2011 to May 24, 2011. It was announced on June 1, 2011 that The Listener had been renewed for a 13-episode third season. On October 4, 2011, it was announced that production on season three was under-way and was to conclude in February 2012 and that ION Television had acquired rights to the first two seasons for broadcast in the U.S. in 2012.[4] After such success with the first two seasons, ION Television began to air Seasons 3, 4 and 5. The program was popular enough on ION that the network broadcast all available episodes and became partners with Shaftesbury, CTV, and Fox International in the production of the series. According to an ION press release, the program has averaged over 1 million viewers per episode in the USA since the network began broadcasting it.[5]Although the shows ratings in Canada were higher in 2014 than in previous years, on August 6, 2014 CTV announced that The Listener would conclude on August 18, 2014 with its final 65th episode.[6]

So when watching "The Listener", there are 2 season 2s, as in "season 1, season 2, season 2, season 3, etc". Because of this i have no idea what the watch order is? I just finished the first season 2, and Amazon prime put me onto season 3 automatically. They've messed up somehow and im very confused with how im supposed to watch the series?

Each season, Toby has become more confident and comfortable with his powers. He evolved from an IIB special consultant to a full-fledged agent. Last year, Toby even carried a gun, although he had to deal with the emotional consequences of shooting someone. This year, Toby steps up his game even more.

"Michelle has gone off on mat leave and had a baby," says Mohan. "Toby and Dev have been working together. Toby has learned to be a cop without Michelle's strong hand to help him all the time. He's a much more professional and valuable member of the team. In this season, he goes undercover in quite dangerous situations with much more comfort."

"He has a gun this year, but Toby has worked hard not to use it all the time, to not draw it," notes Olejnik. "He doesn't bring it to most places. It's still not normal. In Episode 1 this season, he had to draw it. Hopefully, that appeared conflicting and he wasn't sure he wanted to do it.

"Suddenly, they have a presence here who they can't tell Toby's secret to, and who doesn't trust him, and is going to be up in Toby's face," states Mohan. "It really energizes the first part of the season. He's so much a bull in the china shop in every investigation. He loves to stick it to Toby whenever he can."

Smith adds, "For Michelle, it's obviously a disappointment that she didn't get the chief job. I think she does understand why. It's not a huge surprise to her. And quite honestly, I think it would have been too much for her. Becker is so very different from Klein. He has such a different way of dealing with the team. He's much rougher. It's fun. It keeps a certain tension that we didn't have in the IIB before, that we're going to see throughout the season."

CTV renewed The Listener for a fifth season on October 6, 2013. The season will contain 13 episodes. Season 5 premiered May 26, 2014 on CTV. August 6, 2014 it was announced that this will be the final season of The Listener.

Toby Logan is a telepath who works as a special consultant with the elite Integrated Investigative Bureau facing both professional and personal challenges as he uses his mind-reading skills to solve a variety of difficult and dangerous crimes alongside Sergeant Michelle McCluskey. For the third season in a row, CTV is commissioning a digital series that chronicles characters and storylines that branch off from the broadcast series. The Season 5 digital series expands upon Becker's (Lemke) suspicions about Toby (Olejnik), as Becker digs deeper into his questionable crime-solving abilities and mysterious background. Becker doesn't trust Toby, and he intends to find out his secret through interrogations with key individuals from his past. The series will launch mid-season on CTV's exclusive new digital hub CTV EXTEND, located at CTV.ca.

THE LISTENER continued to drive million-plus audiences in its fourth season, including a series-high 1.4 million viewers, resulting in an average audience of 1.1 million. The series ranks among the Top 5 most-watched Canadian series in all genres.

THE LISTENER's IIB team investigates a series of complex crimes this season, including the abduction of a ballerina; murder by magic when a tattooed illusionist's stunt goes awry; the death of a legendary treasure hunter; and the poisoning of a cooking show contestant on live television. But their biggest obstacle might be the return of Supervising Inspector Brian Becker (Lemke), who is sceptical about Toby's contributions to the IIB and must be cautiously won over by the team. Alex Kendrick (Natalie Krill, ROOKIE BLUE) also joins the team as a forensics technician. Her savvy doesn't go unnoticed by Dev, who is thrilled to have an attractive new colleague and collaborator.

Guest stars on THE LISTENER this season include Shawn Doyle (REIGN, BIG LOVE) as a manipulative suspect who may have been wrongly imprisoned; Natalie Brown (BITTEN, CRACKED, SOPHIE) as a scheming psychiatrist; acclaimed Canadian chefs and restaurateurs Alvin Leung and Claudio Aprile, who serve as judges on Season 1 and the upcoming Season 2 of CTV's hit culinary competition MASTERCHEF CANADA; and Gabriel Hogan (HEARTLAND), who plays an ambitious mayoral candidate implicated in the disappearance of a young campaign worker.
