Windows Defender is a very useful feature of Windows 10. Therefore, I decided to move Windows 7 to Windows 10. But after upgrading Windows Defender did not replace Microsoft security essentials windows 10 and both exist on my computer. In this way, no one takes responsibility for securing my system against viruses. But after reading an article, I replace it and Windows Defender able to work on my system.

We are thinking of implementing MSE on our windows servers but I just found out that Even though windows updates have been stopped to automatically download/install. MSE some how bypasses that and installs the updates and that leads to other updates being installed too!!!!!

And to answer why would I do such an act as to stop the all important MSE updates is because it will be patched every two days with off line MSE updates. As I don't want it to turn on the windows update feature to automatic and tuin my production with some funny microsoft update.

I have tried the advice give by Microsoft at -us/windows/troubleshooting-update-issues-for-microsoft-security-essentials-859d3fc8-b920-77f5-7d14-6d9e0c4ceaaf to no avail but have found that when I attempt the final solution at Step 5 an unput of the given term "Cd program files\microsoft security essentials" produces the result that the path cannot be found.

I have windows 7 pro also and experienced the exact same thing. However, my MSE updates fine every day on its own. It is only when I try to update manually that I have the problem. I was used to manually updating and running a scan daily, as part of keeping an older computer in working order. Now I just check that I have the lastest definitions and then do a scan.

Additionally, if I will compare MSE of windows 7 with Windows Defender of windows 10, Windows defender has ransomware protection, advanced threat defense which is not available in MSE. Also Windows Defender in windows 10 has machine learning which is not available in MSE. MSE is totally dependent on signatures. 006ab0faaa
