Overview: Location Services allows location-based apps and websites (including Maps, Camera, Safari, and other Apple/Android and third-party apps) to use information from cellular, Wi-Fi, and Global Positioning System (GPS) networks to determine your approximate location. To use this feature with Buddy Punch, you must enable Location Services on your device to allow the Buddy Punch app access.

4. Click on the padlock in the bottom left-hand corner of the window. You will be asked to authenticate by entering your computer ID/password. Once entered, you will then be able to adjust your Location Services by checking the box next to Enable Location Services and ensuring location services are enabled specifically for Safari:

Important: If you're using Chrome on a Mac desktop, you may get a notification that "Location is turned off in your Mac system preferences." To update your computer's location preferences, follow the onscreen instructions.

If you let Chrome share your location with a site, Chrome sends information to Google Location Services to get an estimate of where you are. Chrome can then share that info with the site that wants your location.

I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't turn location on for Google Chrome. I have tried on Safari, Firefox and Arc (which is based on Chromium). They are able to turn on location just fine. I only have uBlock origin extension installed, still no luck after uninstalling. When I try to change "Ask" to "Allow" in Chrome settings for location services it changes on it's own to "Blocked"

Settings > Locations list geolocation presets. You can use these presets to override geolocation in Chrome. You can also populate the list with your own preset that you use frequently.

One week ago I changed the T-Mobile home internet gateway due to issues. Yesterday was the first time I needed to do anything requiring location in Chrome for my user on this machine. It didn't show location correctly. If it was the router or location info from the internet, it seems that would happen to the other machine on the same local network, but that machine has no location issues and is unaffected.

Im doing a project that involves browser extension. In firefox i do know the location of where the extensions will be after you download them (under your profile folder) and I was wondering where does Chrome hides the crx after you install them? Especially in mac.

CRX files are basically ZIP files. After you install an extension, all the files are in a folder named according to the extension ID. To get the extension ID, go to chrome://extensions/ and make sure Developer mode is checked.

How does that website know to show you which store location is closest to you? If you don't share your location in Google Chrome, some sites (like restaurants with regional dishes or stores with sales in certain areas) won't know which content to show you. This wikiHow article walks you step-by-step through enabling allowing location services on Google Chrome on your Android, iPhone, PC, and Mac.

Kudos to Tanver at the Auth0 support desk for this resolution. Punchline is that for the SameSite=None cookie configuration to work via a chrome browser you must set your localhost webserver to run via https. Works like a hot damn.

I am trying to enable location services on Google Chrome. Of course, I have already allowed location services within Chrome. When using google maps, I get a pop up that says "Location is turned off in Mac System Preferences". I then click and it takes me to Security & Privacy > Location Services. Enable location services is checked off, and Google Chrome is checked off (temporarily). I click the lock to prevent further changes. I return back to maps, refresh the page and get the same error. I click the pop up to take me to location services and GOOGLE CHROME IS DISABLED/ UNCHECKED. The settings seem to be changing on their own and reverting back to unchecked. It's a frustrating issue! I've cleared the cache and tried reinstallation with no avail.

Only if the browser (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) is open will they appear in the list of apps that can be enabled, even if I've previously enabled them. I have to unlock, then enable location services, then select the checkbox for the apps I want to use.

Later, when I come back, regardless of whether or not I've locked Privacy and Security, it is locked, enable location services is unchecked, and if the apps aren't open, they don't appear in the list of apps that have requested access.

A lot of people are coming to this post because they are having a similar issue with location services and any program, including every apple app. Every time the system reboots, location services defaults to unchecked and all previous permissions are gone. I have a post on this here: 252860671 but so far, nothing works.

Yes. I think this happens when Chrome auto-updates itself, and Big Sur appears to treat Chrome like a new app all over again, so the previous permission for location services is reset back to default "no". It's hugely annoying.

This same thing has been happening to me every since I "upgraded" to Big Sur (on a 2018 Mac Mini). The first few times, I had no idea that my locations services had been disabled for Chrome (without my consent)...and I spent HOURS trying to troubleshoot my code (I'm a developer) attempting to determine why chrome, which appeared to have my permission to get my location, wouldn't fetch my location. This is seriously crippling to any web apps that require location permissions...because it's not evident that a user's locations services have been disabled...and most users wouldn't think that their OS has surreptitiously disabled location services without their consent. After a few months of this bug (which has now happened to me at least a dozen times or more), it feels more like an anti-trust issue...in which Apple is crippling the Chrome browser from working correctly. Safari's location settings are NEVER disabled, just Chrome's. If I were Google, I'd be calling my attorneys.

For many web developers that rely on their user's being able to give permission to share their location so they can get accurate location-based listings on websites they visit using Chrome, this is a serious business harming concern. Apple, you need to fix this asap.

It reverts chrome to disabled for location (presumably after every Chrome update) yet remembers the specifically allowed sites in Chrome which I have allowed to see location. It makes no sense. And I blame MacOS system settings. I have never liked and it seems like it has barely changed for at least a decade now.

#knot2afrayed, the site memory is a function of Chrome. The location services permissions is a function of Mac OS. Try checking the Chrome access in Location Services after restarting your computer, to see if it's been changed. I'm experiencing the change in permissions without any kind of update from any software.

Until the bug is fixed, the workaround is to update Chrome, then set the location permissions. They should stick until at least when the next Chrome update is released. It does seem to be working for me.

This isn't just when Chrome gets updated. I can leave the preferences window open, request a location in Chrome, and when I flip back to preferences the checkbox is cleared. I really wanted a new mac book pro, but today the computer is to support the browser - and I'm not going to live with my browser not working because Apple wants me to use Safari.

I'm running into this EXACT same problem.. every time Google does an update.. apple wants me to re-enable location services from Chrome. At least once a week.. Apple wants me to re-enable location services for Chrome.

This is the approach you mention in your question. It is the easiest, and the method I would try first in the situation you describe. Copy or create the new folder at the desired location and use the ln -s command:

I found the chrome.exe installed in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application. I believe this is the location where Chrome is installed in Windows 7 as default. I think that the chromedriver would try to find the Chrome binary there unless explicitly specified by the caller.

I suppose that Chrome Driver does NOT expect Chrome Browser installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe on my Windows 7 PC. So I had to override the Chrome binary location explicity as my workaround code shows.

Vinh Nguyen mentioned that one can explicitly specify the location of chrome binary by Project -> Settings -> Execution -> Default -> WebUI -> Chrome

The Geolocation API is a service that accepts an HTTPS request with thecell tower and WiFi access points that a mobile client can detect. It returnslatitude/longitude coordinates and a radius indicating the accuracy of theresult for each valid input.

The Geolocation API uses cellular device data fields, cell tower data, and WiFi access point array data to return latitude/longitude coordinates and an accuracy radius. It accepts an HTTPS POST request to its endpoint along with a JSON structured request body. The following example shows the request URL and an example request body:curl -X POST " =YOUR_API_KEY" \-H "Content-Type: application/json" \-d \'{ "homeMobileCountryCode":310, "homeMobileNetworkCode":410, "radioType":"gsm", "carrier":"Vodafone", "considerIp":true}'The API can return data for a number of common cellular data fields as indicated below.ResourcesThe following table summarizes the fields in the request body of the geolocation endpointcall, along with the type of data provided from such queries. ff782bc1db
