The Goldfinger[a] is an upcoming Hong Kong action crime thriller film written and directed by Felix Chong, and starring Tony Leung and Andy Lau. Set in the 1980s, the film is based on the story of Carrian Group, a Hong Kong corporation which rose rapidly before collapsing shortly afterwards due to a corruption scandal.[1]

Production for The Goldfinger began in February 2021, under the English working title Once Upon a Time in Hong Kong[a]. On 20 February 2021, the film held its production commencement press conference at Emperor Cinema located in iSquare in Tsim Sha Tsui where it was attended by Emperor Motion Pictures chairman Albert Yeung, producer Ronald Wong, screenwriter and director Felix Chong, alongside cast members Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Simon Yam, Charlene Choi, Alex Fong, Philip Keung, Chin Ka-lok (who also serves as the film's action director), Carlos Chan and Catherine Chau.[1] According to Yeung, the film is produced at a budget of HK$350 million, a recording-breaking budget for a Hong Kong production, and anticipates the film to break box office records as the highest-grossing Hong Kong film.[2][7] At the event, Lau revealed he first received from the script producer Wong and after reading it, he believed Leung is the best choice to act as his on-screen opponent. On the other hand, Leung revealed that his and Lau's roles in the film are reversed from their previous collaboration in the Infernal Affairs film series.[2][8]

All three of these films are about making films. They're also all set in Southern California, and they're all long movies that place the viewer directly in a place and time. The late seventies to early eighties, the late sixties, and the Roaring Twenties.

The restoration work has really cleaned up a lot, only a few minor specs and minor scratches remaining; there's very little damage overall. Motion is smooth, so those action scenes, whether quick or in slo-mo, look incredible. If there's one area that looks a little off it's in how the grain is rendered. It doesn't look entirely natural a lot of the time and may have been managed or filtered a bit, but it doesn't seem to have impacted detail all that much. I'm not entirely sure if it could be something inherent in the original restoration or something to do with the encode. It does look similar to what the second film presents, which I'll mention again was restored by the same restoration house, but it looks different in comparison to how the grain is rendered in films III through V. Whatever the case it's ultimately a minor issue as the final presentation does sharp.

I was a little surprised I was able to do it. It took about 30 takes. Imagine running a marathon 30 times, that's what it felt like. I remember during the middle of filming the first sequence, I was on the ground exhausted, and I looked up and asked Yuen Woo-Ping, Hey sir, can we cut this shot out? and he said "No way, you can't cut this shot out. This is the award-winning shot." So I said okay! and got up.

Wong Jing remakes his own films, again. One thing that can be worse than a narrative that offers no compelling premise is one that we've heard, read, and watched more times than necessary. In a similar vein to all the other China co-produced blockbusters Louis Koo dominates, this too repeats the same police corruption and crime that plagued 70s Hong Kong, thereby leading to the establishment of the ICAC.

Once Upon a time in China is animated entertainment. The film explores the graceful possibilities of the martial arts of a former age. It does not make claims to realism. Even the title suggests a time long ago, in a place and time that might have existed but which no longer survives.

It was in Deauville in 1913 that Gabrielle Chanel opened her first boutique, beginning a style revolution that would outlast her lifetime. To commemorate a century's success, Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld has created a short film, retracing the first steps in the career of this enigmatic woman. Actress and face of Chanel Keira Knightley steps into the skin of the designer, nicknamed Coco Chanel from the songs she sang as a young girl working the music halls. Her elegant, black and white designs used jersey, a material that until this point had only been used in sportswear, bringing the label immediate success at a time when women's needs were changing due to the restrictions imposed by World War I. Gabrielle Chanel liberated the female form by shortening skirts and playing with the masculine/feminine dress codes of the day and the designer advocated the same androgynous style herself, wearing pants, the now iconic Breton striped sweater, a boater and the garonne hairstyle that would become emblematic during the early 20th century. Models Baptiste Giabiconi, Stella Tennant, Lindsey Wixon and Caroline de Maigret join the cast of this short film, which is set to be unveiled May 8 at 8:30pm at a private viewing at Singapore's Raffles Hotel, the night before the Chanel Cruise 2013-2014 runway show at the Loewen Cluster former nutmeg plantation on Dempsey Hill. The video will be played simultaneously on the site chanel-news.com.

The first three films are scanned from 4K digital restorations, the last three films from 2K. All are in their widescreen glory. None offer the dubbed English tracks that have sometimes been available, nor do they offer Mandarin options except for the final film. These soundtracks sometimes throw in Mandarin for certain speakers and other languages for various foreigners, but these are basically Cantonese tracks as heard in Hong Kong.

He then quickly signed him in to replace Li's role in the fourth installment. Fong Sai-Yuk was released in March 1993 and became a box-office hit in Hong Kong, grossing HK $30,666,842. Impressed with Zhao's martial arts talent and image, Tsui Hark encouraged Zhao to sign a three-year contract to be a full-time actor. Zhao returned the offer, stating that his education was the most important. Nonetheless, he continued to devote into filming during school vacations for Green Snake (1993) and Once Upon a Time in China IV (1994). ff782bc1db
