This prints the full version information string. If you only want the python version number, then Bastien Lonard's solution is the best. You might want to examine the full string and see if you need it or portions of it.

If you specifically want to output the python version from the program itself, you can also do this. Uses the simple python version printing method we know and love from the terminal but does it from the program itself:

It has literally been years since printing checks 3 per page (3.5" high checks) has been broken. At best you can get 1 of the 3 checks for a page to be properly aligned, but no further. Is this ever going to get fixed? Every time I upgrade I hope for a fix and have been disappointed again with the new Classic Mac version. This 3.5" high check 3 per page has been a standard for decades. Why can't a basic issue like this get addressed????

All the comments in that thread relate to the inability to move the Memo line up or down independently of the other lines. I don't see anything about 3-per-page checks mentioned by users there. (That topic has a status of "Under Consideration", meaning it has been forwarded to the developers, who have not yet made a commitment to put this on their development schedule.) The absence in that thread about 3-up checks is what makes me wonder if this is an issue the developers are aware of.

Have you spent time on the phone with Quicken Support going through what goes wrong when you print checks? They can document a verified problem to pass to the developers. (Or, possibly, look into it to tell you if it's a known existing issue in their development database.)

Unfortunately, printing alignment issues can be tough to diagnose, because different printers and print drivers can adjust margins that the program expects, throwing off alignment. It's unlikely the developers would make a change for a specific printer if it works properly on most printers. But if it's wrong on all printers, it should be on their bug database list to address at some point.

Thank you for your follow up. The issue has occurred over at least two different manufacturers of laser printer. A handful of years ago I spent 3+ hours between hold time and over the phone diagnosing. After exhausting those options, a consult to a support manager yielded an answer "we no longer support 3.5" high checks. This was a ridiculous response as it's still a standard today. The option of forwarding to developer consideration was not brought up. Is the 'Product Ideas' where I would attempt to get this considered by the company?

Please check to see if your printer driver software is up to date. Sometimes the driver version that comes with the operating system is not the latest version. The printer manufacturer's website will have the latest drivers.

You may need to create a Printer Preset for printing checks, to ensure paper size = letter size, one-sided, quality mode, 100% size (no magnification/reduction). None of the automatic paper recognition, photo print or other fancy settings may work properly.

Jacobs, I personally don't want to elevate the waste by going single page voucher checks. As far as I can tell, quicken.com the software provider does not sell check stock and the absurdly priced check stock sold by Intuit, the former owner of Quicken, is the same size 3.5" high that you get at other providers such as Harland Clarke.

Have you tried setting up a Print Preset for printing checks, to define a proper 8.5*11" page, as described in the link I gave you in my earlier response above? That is more likely the solution to your print alignment problem.

For other software where I used to work, I had good success for many years with CheckDepot.net. They offer checks for Quicken with or without lines (without lines could help with problematic alignment in Quicken Mac); 100 for $25, 500 for $60; a $10 discount pops up for new users. That's one I have personal experience with, but there are many companies which offer checks for prices far lower than the old days when this was controlled by banks and software vendors.

As printing is sometimes unusually slow on my system, I'd like to check which driver my printer is using. I'm not sure if the driver version and the PPD version amount to the same thing; if you know the difference, please explain briefly.

We recently migrated to quickbooks online advanced from quickbooks desktop 2021 accountant edition. We have had issues with getting our check alignment working like it did with the desktop , where details in the stub section are being cutout and if we adjust to fit the stub section for the voucher the top is off and vice versa.

The checks are brought from quickbooks so they arent the issue. Right now our end user has to manually redo the checks alignment in Adobe for every check which takes up time and can be prone to human error. When we do the fine tune alignment the sample it prints looks fine , we save the alignment but when we go to print the check and do a preview and print we see the details in the stub missing words. Also changed the printer settings to the quickbooks recommended settings and also tried a few things with support who have been no help in getting a resolution and redirect me to either give feedback which i have and post in the community.

The attached pdf is an example of what we see when we want to actually print a check with details. the other information is redacted on it, but I have arrows pointing to the areas that are overlapping or just cutoff. The top is fine and aligned to the voucher, but the bottom is askew. and if we move things to the left that ruins the top voucher part.

First, let's start with some basic troubleshooting steps to isolate if this is a browser issue. Please try clearing your regular browser's cache and cookies to refresh your browser and delete files that are affecting the browsing performance.

If you're experiencing the same thing, make sure to use Adobe Reader to print checks as this is the most compatible software to use with QuickBooks. If you already have one, check for updates to get the latest Adobe version.

We can perform other troubleshooting steps aside from what my colleague provided. Sometimes stored cache files can cause unexpected behavior within QuickBooks. Let's go back to your main browser and clear its cache. Then, print a sample paycheck again.

Furthermore, the built-in PDF handler is currently unsupported for Intuit Online Payroll and QuickBooks Online Payroll. (It may be supported at a future time.) Use these steps to switch to the Adobe PDF handler:

For now, I recommend reaching out to our support team. They have the tools to pull up your account needed in investigating the cause of the issue. This way also, you'll be added to the list of affected users and receive status updates on the ongoing investigation through your email.

I was convinced by a sales rep that QBO would be WAY better for us than QB Desktop so we made the plunge and converted everything over only to find that we CAN'T PRINT CHECKS. That seems like a huge upgrade right?!?! The best part is they new this was a problem but did't say anything!

Printing checks is one of the features that QuickBooks Online provides and is used by thousands of our clients. There may be a few alignment concerns due to browser issues, non-upgraded PDF readers, or incompatible printer drivers, but we can look into them so you can use the feature. Let me help you out.

Unfortunately none of the suggestions fix the issue. That was the point of my post to begin with. I've made all of the corrections/adjustments and still cannot print checks correctly. After the conversion from QB Desktop and the initial setup of QBO 2022 was complete I was able to fumble around and get checks to print correctly. Then something changed, presumably an update to the PDF software and caused the check printing to error again. I've made sure all of the suggested settings are correct and am attempting the adjustment in the fine tune alignment area. Once I make a change in the alignment area the printed result is still not correct (I've run this routine about 20 times now in this one sitting). It's like hitting a moving target. I've been using QBO & QB Desktop for a VERY long time and am well aware of how to make these fine tune adjustments. I've done this many, many times in previous versions, now IT'S NOT WORKING. I hired a certified QBO trainer to help with the initial setup and explained the issue to her. Her response was that she can't get her own checks to print correctly. Ironically this trainer was the person that suggested I switch from QBD to QBO :(.

I am having this same issues - spoke to help twice and they cant seem to help me. I have wasted atleast 20 checks trying to align the checks and have them print correctly. I should NOT have to align checks every time I need to print them. This only started happening recently . I align them and ALL looks good with the test - and I put the checks in and they are TOTALLY out of alignment. Someone was calling me back today at 12 noon - and guess what , THEY HAVE NOT because they dont know what is wrong. They told me to only use google chrome, then they cleared my cookies and cache - ALL of which did NOTHING.

I'm currently having the same issue. I have followed all the troubleshooting steps, nothing works. The preview within QB of the check after the alignment issue still shows the original placement. It's not an issue with anything other than Quickbooks. I would prefer not to have to hand write all of our checks!

Also having same issue with check alignment. I switched over to QB online in March of 2023 and printing alignment functioned fine. Now it is way out of alignment every time I print checks even after I reset and save the alignment. Adobe is up to date. Wasting time and checks!

Thanks for posting in the Community, TTC3. I appreciate you performing some steps to resolve the issue with check printing alignment. Allow me to join the thread and route you in the right direction for support. 152ee80cbc
