NBA 2K19 is a 2018 basketball simulation video game developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K, based on the National Basketball Association (NBA). It is the 20th installment in the NBA 2K franchise, the successor to NBA 2K18, and the predecessor to NBA 2K20. NBA 2K19, for the seventh time in the series, features MyTeam mode, a mode based around the idea of building the ultimate basketball team, and maintaining a virtual trading card collection. Players build their own custom team, selecting the players, jerseys, logos, coach, court, and other basketball related things, and play with their team in basketball tournament-style competitions against other players' teams. Players collect cards that unlock players, playbooks, and other items that can be used in their team or sold. Players purchase card packs, which give the player random items, with Virtual Currency (VC). Cards are classified by their overall rating, including a new level: Galaxy Opal, which is exclusive to cards with a 99 rating. There's also an all- new type of card called Heat Check, which changes rating depending on the performance of a player in real life. New to MyTeam in NBA 2K19 is the Unlimited mode, where players compete for rewards and participate in a $250,000 tournament for the said cash prize and a trip to the 2019 NBA All-Star Game.

@FX102A Hi Don here. It's still a brilliant basketball sim. Sure, the microtransactions are still an ugly facet of the game, and you will need to grind to level up, but VC is much easier to obtain than 2K18 and you're going to be playing it for countless hours anyway.

Even though I love basketball and really want to play a good basketball game handheld, I'm not buying this one. I totally disagree with such load of microtransactions and, if that's not enough, I'll have to download 28 GB even if I buy the physical version. Sorry, but that's not the direction I see video games should be heading for. To me that doesn't sound right. I'm sure people who buy it are gonna have fun, of course, and the 30 fps is not an issue. If the rate is stable, that's fine. But as for the money and data, those are big issues to me

I remember on 2k18's launch, there were quite some input lags when you shot the ball, it wasn't quite responsive.

For those who tried 2k19 now, is there any input lag to mention?

@Dom I do not deny the basketball gameplay mechanics are to a high standard but when progression is tied to an economy that is heavily reliant on a premium currency and is designed in a way to goad players into paying, the overall enjoyment and experience is impacted.

I dunno where I read, but some reviewer described it quite vividly as playing the game making them "feel dirty" due to this. This is not to say, that it is not mechanically the best basketball game ever made ... e24fc04721
