As an independent study during my final semester of classes at SUNY Oswego, I worked on a project which came to be called the Autonomous Water Collector (AWC) Project.
My role in this interdisciplinary project was to design and build a device which would collect samples of rainwater automatically on a monthly basis over the course of several months. I worked with a student and professor from the SUNY Oswego Geology Department who provided the technical specifications and constraints of the project. The design brief available below.
I used Fusion 360 extensively to model the final solution, and prototyped several iterations of components. The whole project proved to be too comprehensive to be completed in a single semester, but I made significant strides in finding a solution.
As this project's future is still up in the air, I was asked not to openly publish the details of the project, but I can share the portfolio I developed for the project upon request. (Contact contact@dougosgood.com.) I have still included a few renderings and a video of the final prototype below.
