I had the pleasure of working with composer Douglas Ricketts on two of my short films—"Take Care," a drama, and "Decaying World," a horror film. Douglas composed original scores for both projects, and his work was nothing short of exceptional.
His ability to interpret and enhance the emotional tone of a film is truly remarkable. For "Take Care," Douglas captured the delicate emotional currents of the story with a score that added depth and poignancy. In "Decaying World," his haunting, atmospheric music elevated the tension and dread, perfectly complementing the horror visuals without overpowering them.
Both films were accepted into film festivals and even won—success I firmly believe was in large part due to Douglas’ contribution. His professionalism, creativity, and intuitive grasp of storytelling through music make him an invaluable collaborator for any filmmaker. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
Douglas Wayne Ricketts composes orchestral, electronic, rock, jazz, and hybrid music. He produced original music for the total video game conversion "Army of Darkness: DOOM" in 1996 under his former radio name, Rick Sparks. A lifelong movie fan of musical scores in many styles, he started producing stock music in 2007 and has enjoyed some sales through the AudioMicro & Pond5 websites.
Douglas was part of the music department for the Discovery Channel series "Heartland Thunder" and contributed instrumental jazz tracks to the short films "Upper West Side Story" directed by Leon Chase and "No Peas for the Weary" directed by Aaron Franke. He also has experience producing original scores for short features, including "Take Care" (2015) and "The Decaying World" (2017) directed by Danielle Dunnigan.
Douglas is an active member of the TAXI A&R sync service. Seven albums of his original instrumental works released between 2005 and 2024 are streaming worldwide. They range between orchestral, electronic, rock, jazz, and hybrid styles. Most of the albums can be downloaded and used in commercial & personal projects on a non-exclusive basis (ASCAP registration required for commercial use). His collection of Royalty-Free Stock Music is also linked above.
