Originally from Anchorage Alaska, Douglas Wayne Ricketts (ASCAP) is a Los Angeles–based composer and producer creating rock, jazz, electronic, orchestral, and hybrid cues for film, TV, and digital media. An active member of the TAXI A&R sync community, he has scored short features, contributed to the music department for Discovery Channel’s "Heartland Thunder," and produced a growing catalog of high‑impact cues for editors and supervisors.
Since releasing his first stock music in 2007, Douglas has built a versatile portfolio spanning tension, drama, comedy, and documentary styles. His background in commercial radio, parody songwriting, and stand‑up comedy gives his work a unique sense of timing, character, and storytelling.
When he’s not composing, Douglas narrates audiobooks and keeps his comedy chops sharp — creative outlets which continue to shape his musical voice.
"I had the pleasure of working with composer Douglas Ricketts on two of my short films—"Take Care," a drama, and "Decaying World," a horror film. Douglas composed original scores for both projects, and his work was nothing short of exceptional. His ability to interpret and enhance the emotional tone of a film is truly remarkable. For "Take Care," Douglas captured the delicate emotional currents of the story with a score that added depth and poignancy. In "Decaying World," his haunting, atmospheric music elevated the tension and dread, perfectly complementing the horror visuals without overpowering them. Both films were accepted into film festivals and even won—success I firmly believe was in large part due to Douglas’ contribution. His professionalism, creativity, and intuitive grasp of storytelling through music make him an invaluable collaborator for any filmmaker. I can’t recommend him highly enough." -- Danielle Dunnigan, Producer/Director/Actress
