Yummy Tea Blends from Local Dorrigo Herbs

Join herb lover Kaz Hannigan to discover some of the properties of delicious teas from herbs easily grown around Dorrigo. We will also be tasting some favourite blends like red chai and lemon on lemon. You will also have the opportunity to mix your own designer blend to take home.

Syria: Place, people, history and way of life before the civil war. 

Peter Hannigan will take us on a journey of Syria before the civil war He will also briefly outline the civil war and Syria now. Peter worked in Syria in 2006-07 and again in 2010. Based in Damascus he traveled extensively in country.

Introducing “ Fleurdelysia” 

Join Heidi Anderson-Holmes as she introduces us to a new fossil fruit which was given the species name “fleurdelyisa” as the shape is similar to a Fleur de LIs. The paper was recently published in the Austral-Asian journal Alcheringa. She will give the exciting story of how the fossils were found on three separate continents, the collaboration of the three researchers to unlock the puzzle of the strange fruit and the final presentation some 45 years later.

The Psychedelic Renaissance in Australian Mental Health Care

Join local Clinical Psychologist, Annie Wilson discussing the current use of psychedelics in mental health care in Australia. Australia is a world pioneer in psychedelic mental health care and there has been a lot of media attention on its use. This talk will explore the clinical conditions it is prescribed for, current research and the current debate and challenges.

Dorrigo U3A would like to encourage its members to support Dorrigo CWA by attending a fascinating morning of discussion about the 2026 country of study, Fiji. Speakers will include Peter Lynch, Ruth Holmes and Annie Wilson. 10am-12pm.
