We are a friendly orchestra of largely amateur musicians based in Dorking, who practise together each Wednesday evening and perform three concerts a year in St Martin's Church right in the heart of the town.
We are looking forward to sharing a beautiful programme in our autumn concert this November. This will feature Haydn's Symphony 103, also known as 'The Drumroll' after the long roll on the timpani at the start, and be followed by the well known Dance of the Furies and the Dance of the Blessed Spirits from Gluck's ballet, Orphée et Eurydice. The concert will be rounded off by Mendelssohn's dramatic first symphony, written amazingly when he was only 15 years old and premiered for his sister Fanny's 19th birthday.
We look forward to seeing you in the audience, or, if you are interested in joining the orchestra, please see the 'New players' section below.

We have welcomed a number of new members in the wind and string sections over the past year. And we are currently recruiting - in particular we are looking for viola and cello players, but do always have spaces for other string and brass players too. If you are interested in joining our friendly orchestra, please email us to arrange a no-pressure taster for a rehearsal or two at enquiries@dorkingphilharmonia.org.uk.
If you play a woodwind instrument and are interested in joining, please still get in touch as we are always on the lookout for talented local players.
