We are a friendly orchestra of largely amateur musicians based in Dorking, who practise together each Wednesday evening and perform three concerts a year in St Martin's Church right in the heart of the town.
We are now on our summer break following a lovely summer concert including Bruch's stunning violin concerto - but are thinking ahead and looking forward to sharing our autumn/winter programme with you all in November!
This will include Weber's Oberon overture, Schumann's Symphony 3, a romantic homage to the river Rhein, and Chopin's emotional and virtuosic 1st piano concerto. For this piece we are excited to welcome back Louis-Victor Bak, who played Rachmaninov's piano concerto with us so beautifully back in 2025.

We have welcomed a number of new members in the wind and string sections over the past year, and we are currently recruiting - in particular we are looking for viola players, but do always have spaces for other string and brass players too. If you are interested in joining our friendly orchestra, please email us to arrange a no-pressure taster for a rehearsal or two at enquiries@dorkingphilharmonia.org.uk.
If you play a woodwind instrument and are interested in joining, please still get in touch as we are always on the lookout for talented local players.
