Beginning in Chile
My journey into the fascinating world of microbiology began in the semi-arid, coastal city of La Serena, Chile. Here, I graduated as the second-best ranked student in Food Science Engineering from the University of La Serena.
After working in molecular plant biology at CEAZA, my interest in the molecular mechanisms of life led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Biochemistry at the University of Chile. Under Prof. José Pérez-Donoso's guidance at CBIB, we isolated bacteria capable of producing fluorescent nanoparticles—a discovery that merged the fields of nanotechnology and microbiology.
