 Void will help you not to die if you stay behind when you're playing with your friends. You have to know that he also do damage; but his jumpscare isn't so scary. 

Yes, Void can also save you from a bug like if the room hasn't loaded yet, you'll fall into the void and he will save you. So, don't worry much about him! Stay close together with your friend!
