International Save the Vaquita day

Why do we have International Save the Vaquita day?

International Save the Vaquita day was intended to be like Earth day, but with a specific focus on raising appreciation and awareness for our most endangered marine animal. On this day, people show lots of appreciation towards what they call - Mexico's "Panda of the Sea". It is called this because the vaquita's markings on its face are similar to a panda. People make brochures, posters, have inspirational speeches, do face paint, etc. The events are designed to be fun, educational and kid-friendly. The date of this day usually changes every year.

Who celebrates it?

Mainly people in Mexico celebrate Save the vaquita day, but other people also join in. Next International Save the Vaqquita day, maybe you can start to celebrate it. There are many fun activities for you and your friends/family to do, so why not be a part of the event? We want to get as many people as possible helping to save wildlife, as the more people helping, the better. You don’t have to do a lot to help us, even just sharing information about our project or the vaquita can help!
