Session 9
A Magical Oasis
A Magical Oasis
Nobleman Verrasi had summoned a group from Magnamus' Estate to his residence inside Tyr for some unknown reason. The importance of such a summons could not be ignored.
Upon reaching the opulent location they found the portly man lounging comfortably, ignoring them, and feeding himself.
After attempts to get his attention were stifled by his servant and guards, including an off color song, he finally spoke. He 'asked' them to bring back a prized possession stolen from him by a servant and a former templar. Not providing much else he threatened them should they fail and then quickly ushered them out.
After planning and gathering supplies the group heads out, making good time on their way to Urik across the mountains. Their first camp they notice signs of their quarry's passing.
After another night of travel they arrive to an oasis where they learn that those they seek passed not more than a day ago. They slept next to the guarded oasis peacefully through the hot day.
Their luck ran out on the third day as they made their way into the mountains only to exit not far from the oasis where they entered. Frustrated they pressed on hoping o make up for lost time only to be caught in a devastating sandstorm that nearly flayed the flesh from their bones.
The end of the storm finds the group standing on a ledge overlooking a wie valley. The storm has revealed an ancient building long buried under the sands. Only one wing extends out from underneath. Althuh weather worn, the color revealed indicates it could have just been made.
As th rising sun hits the temple tall, luscious, green grass seems t spread out from the ruins. it is clearly magical.
Entering the ruins they find rooms with oddly painted murals tht although faded, are remarkably clear. Sand covers the floor everywhere though in the corridor they find a deep tapering sand pit. Getting near Nyther slips in to do battle with an emerging antlion. Nyther takes a beating but the antlion is killed with teamwork from the group.
Nyther heads back to try to rest and recover from his grievous wounds while others wish to continue to explore.
A strange man and his rabbit-like water seeking pet enter behnd them as they are collecting themselves. Startled but unthreatened they watch him ignore them and begin his own exploration. They attempt to speak to him and follow him as he makes his way towards a stone basin holding water.
He gives his name as Thrassos and explains that the basin is holding a trapped water elemental and they need to release him by destroying the basin.
IN the process of attempting to destroy the basin the group hears a shout from outside. An evil defiler and his motley crew, in chasing after Thrassos. He boasts many things and demands the group surrender to him. After Karnos retorts with equally outlandish claims a fight ensues.
The raiders dismount their kanks and come in through the windows. The defiler, Banneker, hurls exploding magical meteors at the group taking shelter behind walls. Nyther remains hidden under the sand, undetected by those entering.
The raiders attempt to shoot the group with arrows inside the rooms. Banneker flies in over the pit. He then casts sleet storm on those still inside the room attempting to avoid the raiders. A battle ensues in the antlion pit between Hamura, Fazanna and the raiders which the raiders quickly lose. The freezing storm appears to kill of two of the group and th strange man and his pet. Outnumbered but not outgunned, the defiler attempts to finish off the rest but is slain by Hamura.
The group learns that Thrassos survived, dragged the two members in the storm to safety and then promptly healed them. The group manages to destroy the basin and set the water elemental free.
