Session 3
Climax at the Coliseum
Climax at the Coliseum
Nyther and Urgack convinced Bilal to allow them to compete in the games commemorating Kalak's Ziggurat. The two of them, battled three intense rounds and made their way through stiff competition. The thri-kreen was not liked much by the crowd but the half-giant, his haka dances and brute force quickly enamored himself to all those watching.
It was finally time for the main event. An obsidian pyramid rose from under the stadium and six matched pairs squared of against each other to Tithian's explanation that whoever survived last would win. During the event a magical attack assaulted the viewing platform with King Kalak and soon after Rikus threw a spear that pierced the sorcere-king's chest. His guard quickly ushered him away into the Golden Tower and chaos erupted.
Attempting to escape the stadium the group, and some followers they had impressed headed for the ledge leading down and hopefully out. They noticed some had tied some clothing together and attempted to climb down but the improvised rope was not long enough. Adding their own clothing they soon had a rope long enough.
As they began to fasten this new rope they were struck by magical energy from the ziggurat. This attack weakened them, and the sick and elderly around them succumbed to the magic and died.
When they began to climb down they insisted on going first and soon their followers began to fight to get down. Allegedly Magnamus used his psychic stomp to force them off resulting in many deaths.
At the bottom they found no way out as the massive stone gates were sealed shut.
Tithian's loud booming voice rang out over the chaos in the arena. The magic had stopped sapping everyone's strength. Tithian had killed King Kalak, so he claimed. The crowd was still hesitant and the Senator, Agis of Asticles, whispered something in Tithian's ear. Tithian then proclaimed that all slaves would now be free men and great roar greeted his words.
The gates opened and the group made their way out of the city to the estate of Magnamus.
