The crew has a new overseer. Grok has disappeared after failing to meet quota. Magnamus has been promoted to the unenviable role and his quota has been doubled.

Hamash, the mul fruit vendor, introduces himself to Urgack. Urgack attempts to get him to sponsor the half-giant in the arena but Hamash explains that he is a slave, same as him. He only cares about voicing his hatred for Nobleman Verranasi.

Chapter 3 To the Arena
Nyther and Urgack were spotted by Lissan and recruited to join the gladiators in the arena. Bilal had a tough test for them first though. They had a scant few moments to gather some equipment and then were tossed into a pen with a tembo. Neither of them knew much of the creature but Lissan visibly paled when she learned what Bilal had in plan for them.
The creature was able to blast them from afar with psionics while they tried to hide from it. Then they chased it only to learn it could phase psionically through walls. After a chase through the pen, Urgack was able to land some heavy blows before Bilal called off the tembo.
They now get plenty of rest, though their day is spent in vigorous training for the upcoming games of Kalak.

Kan'ad noticed a trail of blood after the second failed escape attempt. He tracked it down to a pool of blood where he found an invisible man. Noticing the guards still searching he smuggled the unconscious man back to their pen. He became visible and Kan'ad gave him food and water and bound his wounds.

King Kalak visited his ziggurat to check on the progress. Addressing the crowd he explained that some nobles were complaining that their slaves had been taken for this mysterious construction. So he threw two of his nobles in the brickyard and a group of slaves began to attack them. Urrgos ran to their defense and Magnamus too. They were successful and this amused kalak. He ordered the nobles beheaded and gave their titles to Urrgos and Magnamus. He also ordered that all their possessions be given to the two.

Chapter 6 Missing Overseer
After the short break the crew remaining was unable to find their overseer. Additionally their half-giants had also disappeared. Unable to move anything themselves they stood around and were soon gathered up by another overseer to work on his crew.
