Session 19
Battle for Altaruk: Part 1
Battle for Altaruk: Part 1
The party entered the governer's compound, recently reinforced with a low stone wall. Mahlanda and others were discussing the upcoming defense of Altaruk using a map and stone pieces.
Other notables present included Tawa Tomblador, of House Tomblador, and Mustakha Harud, commander of Altaruk's militia Legion. The meeting was briefly interrupted by Kalkorin, Saltor's minotaur ally who informs them that they have seen the influence of the True and will not participate in the battle against ALtaruk.
The group was assigned defense of the wall facing the Silt Sea. On their way they ran into Birk Suntouched who made some mad ravings about the group needing to be one with the city for the defense. He then did some ritualistic dance and pulled a fruit from his dirty satchel and bid them all to eat it.They complied and partook of the dry crunchy fruit. The sour taste then invigorated them as a strange feeling overtook them as if the strength of the walls seemed to pour into them.
A cloud of dust and silt sprung up, seemingly from nowhere over the Silt Sea and made its way towards the city. Riding atop this magical wave were hordes of thri-kreen and ladders, threatening to overwhelm the defenders at the wall.
The group battled thri-kreen that leapt over the wall into the courtyard below. They also roamed across the wall tossing down the ladders to prevent more from coming up.
As they defeated the leader the remainder of the thri-kreen were beaten back. The group had to decide where to focus next, a fire in a residential area being attacked by men in gliders or tarek's in the market.
The group arrived to the market just in time to witness a tarek rip through a helpless merchant. While they battled the tarek they also helped a merchant and his cart escape the attack.
Giant scorpions dragged some underneath the ground and shamans dealt damage from afar. The group successfully defeated the shamans, giant scorpions and other tarek before quickly rushing off to the growing blaze nearby, no chance to catch their breaths.
