Session 1
Infiltrating Tyr
Infiltrating Tyr
During the day while they slept Lunan, the halfling druid, ran off to only he knows where. At dusk, as shadows began to creep across the valley, the group woke and found that Sadira had recruited three more members to their group; a mul gladiator, a human merchant, and Scyther's brother, Nyther. She gave the group a Kank to carry the large barrel of water and everyone got basic clothes and supplies.
Keeping the road to Tyr to their right, in order to avoid patrols, they walked slowly through the night. Magnamus noticed an oddity in the path before them. Halting the group they began to investigate. Fazanna thought it best to cast a bolt of fire and hurl it at the sand. Turned out it was just quicksand that they had to walk around but the bright bolt of fire had attracted some unwanted attention.
Crashing down from out of the mountains somewhere came a hungry Klar. Most of the group attempted to scatter and hide, except for brave Urgack who stood his ground. Maganamus attempted to reach out and slap the bear with some psychic force only to hear the bear growl in Magnamus' head, 'That didn't hurt.' The Klar hit members with a psionic blast that staggered but did not seriously damage anyone. Then the Klar barreled into the group scratching and bitng them. The Mul took a grievous wound to his chest and the thri-kreen felt his forearm crunch under the animals powerful jaws. Fazanna shattered her weapon on the animals chitinous back and the half-giant grabbed hold powerfully of the beast. All the while the human merchant was encouraging them on to victory. In the end, surrounded and bleeding, the klar finally submitted to a stabbing from Fazanna and her now broken weapon.
After Walking all the night they mysteriously woke up the next dusk having no recollection of what had happened the night before. They all found this entirely strange. Magnamus searched his brain for any memory but instead only found a black hole where those memories should have been. Like they were surgically removed. Fazanna's weapon was mended and no one recalled the green bearded druid or his secluded grove where they had rested so well throughout the whole day.
After a long night of travelling without incident the group notices a campfire up ahead. Sneaking up on the group of runaway slaves they quickly determine that the group poses them no threat. The gentle half-giant shares water from his barrel and the runaways quickly trust the group. They attempt to garner some useful information but not much is had except stay away from Tyr.
Finally the gates of Tyr were in sight. Fazanna, wanting to be prepared cast mage armor on herself though this attracted some unwanted attention from a templar inside the gate. After a few more failed plans; going around to another gate - all closed, climbing the walls - too guarded, and hitching a ride with local farmers - too suspicious, they decided to enter as gladiators competing in the games. All except the half giant, who just strode in.
While making his way through Tyr, Urgack, the half-giant, was shoved handedly by a half-giant guard. Losing his balance he crashed into a fruit vendor's stall, destroying much of his wares. The vendor began to shout and Urgack just sat there in a pile of juices. The nobleman in the carriage, bothered by the commotion holds out a sack of coins and loudly demands the templars arrest the "vagrants." Which they soon do.
Magnamus and the mul gladiator were making their way to the arena when they found themselves blocked in by a press-gang. The streets around them were blocked by armored half-giants wielding metal weapons. Two templars were sorting out merchants and nobles and allowing them to pass. Everyone else was rounded up and forced towards the slave pits, including the two of them.
Fazanna and Nyther dive into a wine shop to take a break from the heat and plan how to link up with everyone else. They order drinks and Fazanna gives a fake name for herself but gives up Nyther's real name.
As they sit there is a commotion at the door. In runs a woman who looks around, and seeing an empty seat next them, plops down in it. Shortly afterwards a templar and half a dozen mul guards, armed to the teeth, rush in. They are looking for a preserver. No one speaks, and everyone keeps their heads down. The new woman pretends she knows the two and they keep her secret. The templar steps outside but soon rushes back in and arrests everyone inside.
The group found themselves, amongst numerous others being processed as newly possessed slaves. The process was callously efficient. First they were stripped of all their clothes and belngings, no thought given to gender or species. a templar sifted through things, pocketing anything of value and tossing the rest into a bonfire. Next their heads were shaved, to eliminate lice, and each male was given a loin cloth and each female was given a shift. The thri-kreen received nothing to wear. They all received a small wineskin and a blanket roll. They were assigned to a brick-carrying work group under a dwarven slave master who identified himself as Sin. Weary and shocked they then laid down in the only open space they could find.
