Introduction: In this class you will watch and make documentary films about many different topics.
The documentary genre will help:
Writing techniques for subtitling and narrating in English.
Speaking interview skills in English
Listening to technical and everyday topics in English
Reading information and research for making videos
English story telling skills
In this class you will learn camera angles and shooting techniques
Beginning and intermediate editing skills using Imovie.
Learn entry level professional subtitling techniques and rules from translating for: English to Japanese and Japanese to English.
Course Goals: In this class you will make 5 documentaries:
Autobiographical: video about you (Animoto)
Buildings: video about a favorite building or location (Animoto)
Food: short video made about food (Imovie)
Travel: mix of food places (Imovie)
People: videoing a local person (Imovie)
You will have the opportunity to submit finished videos to film festivals around the world.
Assessment:
In the ELI, we use the same grading system as most English-speaking countries.
