Docsmith ("the app") is a private, on-device PDF workbench developed by Serhii Tykhonenko ("we", "us"). Privacy is the foundation of how Docsmith is built. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to your information.
The short version
Docsmith does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your documents or personal data. Everything you open, create, or edit stays on your device. There is no account, no cloud, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. On the App Store, Docsmith's privacy label is "Data Not Collected."
What Docsmith processes, and where
Everything you work with (the PDFs and images you open, the text you edit, scans you capture, signatures, annotations, and the files Docsmith produces) is processed and stored only on your device, in Docsmith's private storage and wherever you choose to save results. We never receive a copy. We cannot see your documents.
No account, no sign-up: you don't create a profile or log in. There is nothing that identifies you to us.
Offline by design: Docsmith's editing, scanning, OCR, signing and tools all run on your device. The app does not send your documents anywhere.
No cloud: Docsmith does not sync your documents to iCloud or any server.
On-device OCR: text recognition happens entirely on your iPhone; no image or text is uploaded for processing.
What Docsmith does NOT do
No analytics or usage tracking. No advertising and no ad identifiers (no IDFA). No third-party SDKs, no social logins, no marketing tools. No selling or sharing of your data with anyone. No collection of your documents, text, or signatures.
Purchases
Docsmith offers an optional Docsmith Pro subscription. Purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not see or receive your payment details, card numbers, or Apple Account credentials. To validate your Pro status, the app uses Apple's on-device StoreKit; no personal identifier is sent to us. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Device permissions
Docsmith only asks for a permission when you use the feature that needs it.
Camera: only when you scan a document. Captured pages become a PDF on your device and are never uploaded.
Photos: only if you choose to import an image or add a picture to a page. Selected images stay on your device.
Face ID: only if you turn on the optional app lock. Authentication is handled by Apple's system; Docsmith never sees your biometric data.
Notifications: only if you enable them. Any notifications are scheduled locally on your device.
Sharing and export - you are in control
Docsmith creates files (edited PDFs, images, extracted text, and more) on your device. They leave your device only when you choose to share or save them through the standard iOS share sheet, for example to the Files app, Mail, or Messages. Once you share a file, it is handled by that destination, not by Docsmith.
Your data, your control
Edit or delete any document at any time inside the app. Clear the version history in Settings, Storage. Delete everything by removing the app from your device, which erases all Docsmith data with it. Because your documents never reach us, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and no data request to make.
Children
Docsmith is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app collects no data from anyone, no information is knowingly collected from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version on this page.
