Chaidh a chlàradh mar a bhith ga bruidhinn air feadh Alba no Alba anns a’ chiad mhìle bliadhna. Le freumhan ann an rìoghachd Dhal Riáta. Thòisich Laideann ga cleachdadh nuair a ràinig na Ròmanaich còrr is dà mhìle bliadhna air ais. Ràinig sgrìobhadairean agus luchd-labhairt ann an iomadh cruth. Gheibheadh ìmpirean ann an Ròimh litrichean agus sgrìobhainnean a chaidh a chur bhon roinn agus gan cruinneachadh gus dealbh a chruthachadh de mhòr-roinnean na Ròimhe. Am measg nan Ròmanach bha manaich Chrìosdail a bheireadh leis a’ Bhìoball agus an sgeulachd Chrìosdail nas fhaide air adhart. Nuair a tharraing an Ròimh air ais, bhiodh na tuineachaidhean manaich seo air am fàgail. Bhiodh an sgeulachd Chrìosdail an uairsin a’ soirbheachadh le bhith a’ sgaoileadh na Laideann. B’ e Gàidhlig fhathast a’ phrìomh chànan ann an Alba agus Alba. Ach mean air mhean, thar ùine, bhiodh na diofar chànanan Eòrpach - Laideann, Fraingis, Gearmailtis, Duitsis, Lochlannais, Danmhairgis, Eadailtis, Spàinntis - a’ tighinn còmhla ris a’ Bheurla. Thachair seo mean air mhean tron Meadhan-Aoisean. Bhiodh na cànanan sin mu dheireadh a’ tighinn còmhla ris a’ Bheurla a bhiodh air a cleachdadh air feadh an t-saoghail. Gu h-àraidh aig àm an leudachaidh nuair a bhiodh coloinidhean gan cruthachadh air feadh an t-saoghail. Cha bhiodh Beurla aig a h-uile duine. Am measg nan luchd-labhairt Beurla seo, bha coloinidhean de luchd-labhairt Gàidhlig ann cuideachd. Am measg nan cànanan Eòrpach eile uile a bhiodh mean air mhean a’ sgaoileadh air feadh Ameireagaidh.
'S e fuigheall de na cànanan Ceilteach a bh' ann an Gàidhlig a bh' ann uaireigin air feadh na Roinn Eòrpa. Mus do thòisich na cànanan Laidinn a' faighinn làmh an uachdair air an Roinn Eòrpa còrr is 2,000 bliadhna air ais.
’S e cànan glè bhrèagha a th’ ann an Gàidhlig cuideachd, le tòrr fhaclan bog, cruinn. Le mòran de gharbhachd na Beurla air a thoirt air falbh. Tha mi an dòchas barrachd susbaint Gàidhlig a chur ris gus seo a dhearbhadh.

Gáidhlig is one of the most ancient of languages. In the world. It is certainly one of the oldest of languages in the British Isles and in Scotland, spoken to this day. It was recorded as being spoken throughout Alba or Scotland in the first millenium. With its roots in the kingdom of Dal Riáta. Latin began to be used when the Romans arrived over two thousand years ago. Writers and speakers arrived in many forms. Emperors in Rome would receive letters and documents sent from the region and be collected to form a picture of the provinces of Rome. Amongst the Romans were christian monks who would later bring the bible and the christian story. When rome retreated these settlements of monks would be left. The christian story would then flourish spreading the latin language. Gáidhlig was still the dominant language of Alba and of Scotland. However slowly overtime the various european languages of Latin, French, German, Dutch, Norse, Danish, Italian, Spanish would merge into the English language. This happened slowly throughout the middle ages. These languages would eventually fuse together into the english language which would go on to be used throughout the world. Particularly during the expansionist era when colonies would be created throughout the world. Not all would speak english. In amongst these English speakers, there were colonies of Gáidhlig speakers as well. Amongst all the other european languages that would slowly spread across the americas.
Gáidhlig is a remnant of the celtic languages that were once spoken across Europe. Before the latin languages began to dominate europe more than 2 thousand years ago.
Gáidhlig is also a very beautiful language lots of soft rounded words. With much of the harshness of english removed. I hope to add to more gáidhlig content to demonstrate this.

The Gáidhlig language has accents on vowels, in the same way that the French and other european languages do.
It shows that Gáidhlig is a european language with echoes from the tribes of Celts who occupied europe before being almost wiped out by the Roman military over 2000 years ago.
The way I have found to type accents on a windows 11 system is this :
First go into settings and add a keyboard. Add Scottish Gaelic.
Once added you can toggle between keyboards by clicking on in the lower right of the tool bar. It will have your default language. Where you can click on it. You are then able to change the language setting. Ensure GLA is the keyboard selected.
Once you have selected or changed the keyboard to GLA then the following steps can be followed
To do a á accent. Hold down the ALT GR and the vowel at the same time.
To do a à accent. You use the Tilde key the location of which can vary depending on your keyboard. On my keyboard it is located above the tab and to the left of the 1. As noted it may be in a different location on your keyboard once located.
[Press this Tilde key once, release, and then the vowel.]
Tha stràc air fuaimreagan aig a’ chànan Gàidhlig, san aon dòigh ’s a tha aig a’ Fhraingis agus cànanan Eòrpach eile.
Tha e a’ sealltainn gur e cànan Eòrpach a th’ ann an Gàidhlig le mac-talla bho threubhan nan Ceilteach a bha a’ fuireach san Roinn Eòrpa mus deach an cuir às cha mhòr leis an arm Ròmanach còrr is 2000 bliadhna air ais.
Seo an dòigh a lorg mi airson stràcan a thaipeadh air siostam Windows 11:
An toiseach, rach a-steach do na roghainnean agus cuir meur-chlàr ris. Cuir Gàidhlig na h-Alba ris.
Aon uair ‘s gu bheil e air a chur ris, faodaidh tu gluasad eadar meur-chlàran le bhith a’ briogadh air aig bonn deas a’ bhàr-inneil. Bidh do chànan bunaiteach ann. Far an urrainn dhut briogadh air. An uairsin bidh e comasach dhut an suidheachadh cànain atharrachadh. Dèan cinnteach gur e GLA am meur-chlàr a chaidh a thaghadh.
Aon uair ‘s gu bheil thu air am meur-chlàr a thaghadh no atharrachadh gu GLA, faodar na ceumannan a leanas a leantainn:
Gus stràc á a dhèanamh. Cum sìos ALT GR agus an fhuaimreag aig an aon àm.
Gus stràc à a dhèanamh. Bidh thu a’ cleachdadh an iuchair Tilde agus faodaidh an t-àite aice atharrachadh a rèir do mheur-chlàr. Air mo mheur-chlàr tha e suidhichte os cionn an taba agus air taobh clì an 1. Mar a chaidh a ràdh, is dòcha gu bheil e ann an àite eadar-dhealaichte air do mheur-chlàr aon uair ‘s gu bheil e air a lorg.
[Brùth air an iuchair Tilde seo aon uair, leig às e, agus an uairsin an fhuaimreag.]
