Dear Learners,
In this LeD we will see the activity that happens on a network while opening a web page on a computer in Cisco packet tracer. This LeD has six videos and a few questions. Lets start with the following discussion.
Now we introduce you to the campus network that we have created. We look at the logical layout of the different centers and buildings and in the physical layout we see how the devices have been placed in these buildings. Finally we try to open a website from a computer in the hostel. You may download the campus network topology file used in the example from here.
Now lets open same web page in the campus network in the simulation mode. When we try to request a big image it is broken down into number of fragments and then sent to the computer requesting it.
Next we try to look at the packets in the simulation mode and the information they contain. We also see the fragmentation and reassembly information on one of the packets which was a part of the image that was requested by the laptop from the server.
Now lets see how to make changes to the dummy website and also discuss how using DNS (Domain Name Service) the laptop is able to locate the web server and the website is loaded using the web site address known as the URL.
Lets conclude this session with the following discussion.
