From the session ''Creating and facilitating visually stimulating tasks'' I learned a lot of interesting methods of teaching English. All of visual and stimulating tasks will help us to make our lessons fun and achieve the best results. After watching the video ''Strategies for making learning visually stimulating'' I liked the strategies ''See -Think -Wonder'' and ''Word Walls''. At school I tried to use the strategy ''See - Think -Wonder'' with my pupils. I showed the picture of the jiraffe on the tree to the pupils. Then I asked them:
What do they see on the picture?
What do they think about this picture?
What does it make they wonder?
The purpose of this routine was to allow students time to thoughtfully consider not only what they 're observing, but also what those observatons mean.
The See Think Wonder routine encouraged my students to:
. make careful observations
. make thoughtful interpretations
It helped to :
. stimulate curiosity
. set the stage for inquiry
In this routine , students were generally sharing their thinking at each step along the way before moving on the next one. This allowed the class to build on the group's thinking and often resulted in richer discussions. It was an exciting because pupils predicted, infered and made connections naturally without even realizing it!
In conclusion, I agree with this opinion ''It has been said that 80% of what people learn is visual''. The result of using this strategy was wonderful. By increasing thinking , motivation to learn was also increased.
