Pricing and FAQs

Pricing

So, you are ready to book an event! Here is what my pricing looks like:

Let's meet up and grab a coffee. I would be happy to cover in detail what my services are and see if we are a good fit personality wise. I am always happy to recommend the services of other DJs that I know if we can't work something out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you play requests? - Typically, yes. However, I will not entertain WAP at a school dance and I will not play the Chicken Dance at a wedding where the Bride asked me not to do so. If I think that request is going to curdle a dance floor and kill the vibe I may save it for later like after a slow song or just politely decline. My goal is to keep the maximum number of party guests dancing and having as good of a time as possible. If the request aligns with my goals, I will work it in. If the request is opposite of my goal, I will decline. I guess this was a wordy way of saying "sometimes".

How long does it take to set up? - Outdoors with the Boombox - ~15 mins~ My full rig at a fancy venue where I need to walk half a mile from the parking lot - ~2 hours~ I typically ask for an hour and half to setup, change clothes and look cool and collected when your guests arrive. Nobody wants to see a DJ in bluejeans carrying boxes... Or maybe they do and I am missing a market segment?

What music do you play? - If left to my own devices, I am going to pick music that speaks to me and mix often with a dance music vibe. I find that when I am into the music and singing along it is far easier to get others excited about the vibe. I have music from many genres that span Hip Hop, Electronic Dance Music, Pop, Rock, Country, Afrobeat, House, Disco, Hindi Pop, Hair Metal, Bubblegum, Adult Contemporary, Drill, Ske, Reggae, and Phonk to name a few. If I have access to cellular internet or wifi I can get even more music.

Can I give you a playlist? - Yes, but if you expect me to play all of the songs in order in their entirety without any deviation you were actually looking to purchase a loudspeaker and made a mistake hiring a DJ. If you give me the list ahead of time and I can gather and familiarize myself with the music I am happy to blend as much of it as reasonably possible into the evening but I may not play every single track of a 200 song playlist. I promise that if you let me do my job where I read the crowd and find the vibe all of us will have a killer time and I will get bodies on the dance floor.

How far will you travel? - I typically try to DJ in Western MA, Southern NH and VT, and North of Hartford in CT. I have been compensated to travel further but this typically requires more money for fuel and a hotel stipend.

How many people are on my team? - Officially, I am a one man show. However, I sometimes bring my wife or son if the event is appropriate to do so. In some instances where I need to travel or carry my gear up a few flights of stairs I hire assistants who really only help with the set up and breakdown of the gear.

What if you get sick or hit by a bus? - For weddings I have a few friends in my life who used to be DJs and I keep them up to date with my calendar and keep notes about events in documents attached to the calendar events. I will do everything in my power to make any event that I agree to perform but I always have a back up plan to avoid leaving anyone high and dry.
