Snack Break
Snack Break
The ancient Greek diet was surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly) similar to today's Mediterranean diet. Introduce students to the tastes of ancient Greece with a quick snack break. some of these items may already be part of your student's diets, and some may be a new experience. Encourage students to be adventurous and try new things!
You can provide students with any of the following (or ask your school community for donations!):
Fresh or dried figs
Olives
Feta cheese
Honey
Barley bread
Apple slices
Pistachios
Oatcakes
Cream of Wheat (or oatmeal!)
Sources for the ancient Greek diet include Plato's Republic, Book II, the Greek poet Eubolos, and archaeological sources from across the ancient Greek world.
