What is Literature?

What is Literature (before MA)

What is Literature After MA

Literature is the door, where there is nothing about locks and keys. So do not worry about forgetting the keys!

While studying Bachler, I was thinking that I choose the subject English for just knowledge to survive in society because the language has a high value in society.  However, after time passed I came across the western world and culture but still I was not able to understand what literature is. After studying the first English short story ‘A Cup of Tea’ by  New Zealand writer Katherine Mansfield, (though I was not aware about her nationality, we introduced her as English writer, there was not clear understanding of Geography of Literature which might be the problematic for further studying in History of English Literature BA Semester 3-4) it was refreshing to feel such characters in our daily life also. Jealousy, which is also a very important ingredient which is to analyze ourselves and our behavior, and such literary pieces, helps us to purify our habits, behavior, and way of understanding life.

I honestly accept that I don’t like studying history however, I have studied the History of English Literature since my Bachelors. I studied history like a translation book! As Karl Marx noted, “History repeats itself, first as a tragedy, second as a farce”. We live today what was already lived.

Coming to the Master' I have now an open mind to explore such things related to life in any literary piece of writing. Lady Macbeth’s feminist reading was my first attempt to explore feminist theory in literary work. Though, we apply feminist theory in our life, unconsciously, literature gave such light to our backstage of mind to go beyond the absence of what is not.
