(171 CR - 17 PE)
Zalam started life as a bold, courageous leader. He was assertive and quick witted and had big plans- which happened to involve overthrowing the tyrannical cruel dictator Chamuna.
In 202 CR he assembled a group of crusaders with himself at the helm of it all- Silfra, Clay, Wenshen, and Tofu, all united in the goal of taking down Chamuna.
In the middle of the crusades the 5 crusaders fell under attack by a group of 5 bandits looking to kill and loot every person in the crusade. During the conflict while Zalam was in the middle of fighting Clay hesitated to fight his own attacker. As a result, Zalam was ambushed by the person that had slipped away from Clay and was beaten within an inch of his life before the group managed to run away and hide.
Zalam sustained severe brain damage afterwards, developing epilepsy as a result and undergoing a complete personality shift because of the traumatic brain injury.
Despite this setback, the crusade would carry on. After the 5 managed to take down Chamuna, Zalam would be adorned as the God of Peace.
In his time as a God he adopted a much calmer and relaxed form of leadership- his cult remaining small and sparse as he didn't focus on growth, rather simply focusing on keeping the peace. His apostles were like family to him, as were the other Gods, and he spent his day as a sort of guardian for those around him.
Due to his sensitive eyes caused by his albinism, he tends to prefer being awake at night. He was often seen in the meadows at night or in his wildflower gardens directly behind his temple where he'd spend time talking with his apostles and friends while having a cup of tea. If someone happened to walk by, he was likely to invite them for a chat.
Eventually though, the other Gods, headed by Wenshen, grew fed up with his gentle and laxed leadership. To Wenshen especially, he was weak. He stained their reputation as fearsome rulers. His "weakness" spread to the rest of them.
Wenshen hatched a plan alongside Tofu to put an end to his godhood. The 5 Gods met, 2 with the intention of killing another. Zalam refused to fight and was quickly taken down. It seemed he'd been successfully killed.
To the dismay of Wenshen and Tofu, after Clay sat with his body, it turned out he'd somehow survived the attack. As a compromise for his life, they all made the decision to lock him up in a dimension between life and death where he would stay imprisoned.
After his imprisonment, the Gods received a prophecy- a mouse would free him and wreak havoc across the lands. And despite the best efforts of the Gods, this prophecy would be fulfilled.
And despite the efforts of his loved ones, Zalam would never be free.
After his defeat at the hands of Maus, he was hidden away by Melancholy, eventually gaining the assistance of Clay, whilst he was presumed dead by everyone else. Including Maus.
This wouldn't last.
After a little over a year of Zalam wasting away on the brink of death in Mel's house, it all came to a head. Maus discovered them, and after a fight with Mel, both she and Zalam were thrown in prison and left to rot.
Not long after imprisonment, Zalam died in his cell- and with him, the final threads of Peace were gone.

Stoic and of few words, the god of life prefers to spend his time holed up in his temple working on his latest artistic ventures.
He often keeps to himself but does quietly delight in others joining him to work on their own projects in tandem.
Unlike his un-swapped counterpart, Clay is known for his relatively humble lifestyle and his generosity toward his followers

The Mastermind behind it all, and the cruel tyrant of the Vitality Cult. She rules with her iron instruments, controlling medical and health across the domain to ensure loyalty. Those who do not worship her will die from the influenza, or suffer at the hands of her followers.
Ever since the sealing of Zalam, she has acted much colder to her found family, casting them aside at the most minor of inconvieniences, and even resorting on eating them to keep her body healthy and young. Unfortunately, guilt is the most deathly of killers, as the imprisonment of her brother has led to the development of DFS, with faces of her brother weeping replace the faces of all, all but her lone daughter.
Praise be Vitality's mother! Praise be the healing sickle!

After killing Zalam, they finally took their place as the one and only God, claiming the lands that had once sought to kill every single creature like them.
Their rule was tyrannical- it was cruel- it was everything that had shaped them to be who they were.
It didn't take long for their subjects to start planning what to do about this problem, just like the 5 crusaders had done more than 1,300 years ago.
Unbeknownst to Maus, Zalam had survived- though barely. He was being harbored by several of the former Apostles of the conquered gods. This carried on for several years as they ruled, until finally, the shoe dropped.
They found out what had been happening, and when trying to bring Zalam to prison, their Prophet- Melancholy- retaliated. Despite her best efforts, she lost the fight, and both her and Zalam would be sent to prison as Maus' iron clawed grip on the lands tightened even further.
Within a year of the imprisonment, Zalam died in his cell, to which they reacted with expected apathy. His death however would seal not only his fate, but theirs too.
Spurred to action by the death of Zalam, a group of revolutionaries who had been brewing beneath the surface for several years formulated a jailbreak to get Mel out of prison.
The group convened and finally put their plan into action.
After an ambush by a group of former Apostles and village members alike, Maus was killed by their former prophet Melancholy.
The next night, a new mouse would be born to Ratté and Melancholy.

They are the sole survivor of the mouse massacre that wiped out the entire species.
They are entirely deaf and have no hearing capabilities, as a result they tend to shout and speak very loudly. They went deaf after a failed attempt to kill them that caused severe damage to their ears and brain.
Maus grew up in the midst of a horrific, violent genocide that they were at the center of. Their entire life consisted of avoiding being captured and executed, and they learnt at a very young age that life was every mouse for themself.
They didn't get to experience love, friendship, or care. Their parents both died in the massacre that took their hearing and almost took their life.
As a result of this upbringing, or lack thereof, they developed a twisted and depraved moral compass. By the time they were executed and sent to Zalam as his Vessel, the fate of the lands had already been sealed.
Every action they took was selfish. Every action they took was fueled by the need to survive. They were cruel, uncaring, merciless, and acted in the same violent ways that wiped out their entire species.
They decimated the lands, capturing and keeping every Apostle and every God as trophies- allowing them to live as a reminder of their power.
By the time the penultimate God had been defeated, they had their final face-off with Zalam. Not content to give up their Adornment and live life as a mortal again, they killed Zalam without a second thought. Or so they thought.

Lazy, apathetic, unmotivated, ungratefull… did we mention lazy?
You wouldn’t be faulted for forgetting Casper was even a trusted Priest of the god of life. When was he last even seen at his side or even holding a sermon?
Casper would much rather spend his time lazing away in his cozy little mountain cottage. It’s no wonder he never noticed the arrival of the little crusader Maus until everyone had already been taken.
In short, he's truthfully just a chill guy.

Laertes was a victim of an attempted drowning by rival Vitality cultists, he would have died if not for the intervention from Zalam. She was saved and brought in to the temple to recover, quickly bonding and befriending the God of Peace.
He's a softspoken and kind mouse, one of the apostles of peace that in reality acted more as a safe haven for people Zalam viewed as his friends and family. She loves having a nice conversation over some tea.
